The Good News - A Good Reason To Keep Going

Introduction

Some of us have been weary of something from time to time. We’ve been weary or tired of: Our jobs. Students get tired of schools. People may weary us. We can be weary of daily routine, Being sick, or Being broke. We may be weary of doing Ministry, Praying, Bible study, Coming to church and the list goes on and on...
But we can’t become weary of “doing well”.
There is an unseen attempt to cause us to miss the mark. It is an attempt to make us tired in our well-doing.
Satan has launched a campaign to discourage believers and cause us to walk away from our faith in God…we used to be on time, faithful to the work and eager to do it.
This campaign also will caused believers to behave unseemly and distort the world’s view of the image of God. God’s image is love, patience and kindness.
and the enemy knows if he can discourage us in our well doing, he can rob others of seeing the image we’re supposed to project.
To close out our focus series on weariness, I want to encourage you by giving you a good reason to keep going.
Read:
Galatians 6:9; 1 Corinthians 15:55-58.

Weariness

The good news of the Gospel seems to have been buried by messages of financial breakthroughs, large homes, and fine cars. I don’t know about you all but I need to hear about the center of my joy and hope from time to time.
The good news is what rekindles and ignites us when we’re feeling weary, wounded and sad.
We know God is able to make everybody in this room/sanctuary millionaires in a matter of days, but all the money in the world won’t replace the promise of eternal life. Jesus warns us in Matthew 6:19, 20 - Do not lay up treasures on earth where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
The good news gives us a very good reason to not be weary in doing well.
I don’t know about you, but I have to encourage myself like David did. I encourage myself with two things, God’s word and the promises of His word. We have to encourage ourselves!

Illustration - The Houseplant

We all know what happens to a houseplant if we deprive it from the nourishment of the sun S-U-N.
The same thing happens when we’re deprived of the nourishment we receive from the good news of the Son, S-O-N, Jesus. He is the bright and morning star! He is the Light of the world! And His word is a lamp unto our feet. We would be lost if it weren’t for Jesus, the reason we have hope today. A GOOD REASON TO KEEP GOING!

Illustration - WD 40

I have in my hand a can of WD 40. Most of us have a can of this lying around the house, if you don’t you need to get a can of it. Most of us know what this can of WD 40 does. Not only does it loosen rusted screws, nots and bolts, I understand it’s good for sore kneesI I haven’t tried that yet but that’s what I heard.
Anyway. I want to use this can of WD 40 as an illustration. There is a story behind the name of WD 40.
WD stands for water displacement and the 40 stands for the number of times to create the formula that’s been around since 1958.
The creator of WD 40 tried 39 times and finally on the 40th try, he got it right.
What we can learn something from the creator of WD 40 is being persistent in doing good things and the results will benefit many people and ourselves.

The Good News

By Adam’s disobedience, we were made sinners. But also by Jesus’ obedience - we were made righteous.
By one man’s action death came into the world and by one Man we have victory over death.
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life!
Our reason to fight weariness and keep going is Jesus!
Our reason to keep going is…..His work on the cross has saved those who believe in Him. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life! - John 3:16.

Wait! Don’t Give Up!

When weariness comes be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord!
They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
Keep your mind stayed on Jesus and He will keep you in perfect peace.
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Jesus Is The Good News!

Jesus has guaranteed those who believe in Him a place in God’s Kingdom.
Jesus died and He rose again...
Some people rely on Buddha, Muhammad, Confucius and other gods. All of them are dead.
Jesus died too. But the good news is He got up and He’s coming back!
Oh death! Where is your sting? Hades where is your victory?
We have the victory over death and hell through our Savior Jesus Christ!
Jesus! is Our healer, our way-maker, miracle worker and light in the darkness.
Jesus! He is the reason to keep going and not be weary in well doing.
If we walk after the spirit and not the flesh, we have hope. Don’t give up.
Jesus! If we obey His commands…we have hope! Don’t give up!
If we have faith, and do not doubt…we have hope! Don’t give up.

Closing - Testimony!
