The essence of Christianity is servanthood

I want to believe the reason you have gone the extent of inviting all us to come to Malta to witness your union in this manner is because you would like wanted to make your vow in a very special way in the presence of God and His people.

As a christian you also believe that you embrace the Christian principals that govern marriage

This scripture sums up the essence of Christianiny

To be a Christian is to be a self volunteering servant and so it to be in marriage

Some one summed up marriage as a reciprical willingness of two persons to assume responsiblity for each other ( Otto Pipper)

marriage calls us to become servants of each others welfare

Many people get marriage based entirely on what they think their spouses will bring to the marriage

is this person attractive

Is he able to support our family

has he got what it takes to be a father

is she beautiful

Can she make a good home maker

These are all valid questions but a soon as this ceremony is over, and you want a true christian strong marriage, You have to ask youselve "How can I serve my spouse"

For you to serve your spouse fully, there has to be a level of sacrifice

But sacrifice In its true definition is not sacrifice unless it costs us something

It is therefore fare to ask, what have done to my spouse this week that has costed me something , i trms of time, financially, emotionally or vocasionally

Marriages will be enriched when our desires to be served are replaced with the nobler desire to serve our spouses

Selfishess has to die a natural death, and our service for one another continues for twenty four hours a day

Sometimes some dramatic acts of service are necessary to build love and intimacy in marriage

When there are a lot of recentments, such voulntary acts of service can be the quickest way to build love again.

Just like Jesus gave his body for us, we are to lay down our energy, our bodies and our lives for our spouses
