- Man has two faces.
- One side of man shows his capacity to create, to be kind, and tohonour truth.
- Yet we also see him doing these same things in a malicious way.
- He carries out kind acts in a shrewd manner to forward a private desire.
- We seeing enjoying a sunset, yet at the same time working in a jobthat fills the atmosphere with waste products that nearly obsurethe sunset.
- Man is both dignified and degraded.
---------------------------------
- Man is fallen and lost/ Alienated from God.
- From the beginning he's made an attempt to recover this loss.
- Resulted in two ways.
GEN 4
1. Cain's way and 2. Abel's way.
- Cain was the self-sufficent humanist.
- Cains way was how he could find favour with God his own way
- So he brought to the altar an expression of his own labours.
- However...
- Abel brought that which God required.
- Which was blood.
- Abel had faith in God's provision and was obedient cf. Heb 11:4
- Cain became the prototype of all who dare approach God without
the shedding of blood.
- Heb 9:22 "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness"
- Jesus is the salvation, God had planned for us.
- Rev 1:5 says that Jesus has "Washed us from our sins in His own
blood."
------------------------------------
- We have hope because God has taken care of our salvation.
- Our salvation is not based upon our attending church, doing good
deeds etc.
- Athough!!!
- A "true" believer will want to do these things.
- But our eternal security rests in the accomplished work of the
Lord Jesus Christ.
- On the cross Jesus said "It is Finished."
- Read Ps. 62
THE LORD'S SUPPER - reminder of the immense sacrifice of Jesus.
