Don’t let entertainment define your character. Let your character define your entertainment.
IT’s important we use Biblical standards for our entertainment
Romans 12:1–2 ESV
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
The Christian life is one that requires translating “learning” into “living”
It requires a dedication from us for the life God has called us to live.
In this passage, Paul gives 3 steps for Christian Dedication

Give God your Body (v.1)

This might sound radical
Just as Jesus had to take on Himself a body to accomplish God’s will, so we must yied our bodies to Christ so He can continue God’s work through us
2 Examples of “living sacrifices”
Isaac—Died to self and yielded himself to the will of God
Jesus--”living sacrifice” died as a sacrifice for us all
Our Bodies must be presented—Present once and for all.
We have a choice in the matter
We do this for 2 reasons...
It is the right response to what God has done for us “By the mercies of God”
It is our spiritual worship..
Our BOdies must be Holy & acceptable
We can’t contaminate ourselves if we want to be a sacrifice
We must be clean vessels

Give God Your mind (v.2)

WOrld is trying to control your mind
This world transform comes from another similar word—metamorpahsis
It describes a change from within
If the world controls your mind you are a conformer
If God controls it you are a transformer
The Bible Exposition Commentary Chapter Eleven: Right Relationships Mean Right Living (Romans 12–13)

God transforms our minds and makes us spiritually minded by using His Word. As you spend time meditating on God’s Word, memorizing it, and making it a part of your inner man, God will gradually make your mind more spiritual

2 Corinthians 3:18 ESV
18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Give God your will

Your mind controls your body and your will controls your mind
Many people try to control their own will, but are unable to do it.
Paul struggled with controlling his own will
Romans 7:15–21 ESV
15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16 Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good. 17 So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand.
We surrender our will to God through disciplined prayer (Not my will, but thine O Lord)
How do I know what to watch?
What we watch matters
If all of life is worship, what we watch is worship to God.
Do we live our lives by saying “it’s not that bad”
1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
2. Be aware of the rating you are watching
Psalm 101:3 ESV
3 I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.
Make radical decisions to “keep your body holy and acceptable”
Again, don’t ask what’s wrong with it...
3. Know what you watch is shaping you
Garbage in garbage out
What is it saying? what is it teaching you? How does it help you love God and love others better.
Proverbs 4:23 ESV
23 Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.
