The God of Truth

The text reads so that he who blesses himself in the Earth. Shall bless himself in the god of Truth. And he, who swears in the Earth shall swear by the god of Truth. because the former troubles are forgotten and because they are hidden from mine eyes. I want to focus in on.

In the first half of that verse 16. He who blesses himself in the Earth, shall bless himself in the god of Truth. And he, who swears in the Earth, shall swear by the god of Truth, all that we may worship him together this morning. as we explore this ever important and fundamental Doctrine, The god of Truth, a Sprite family. Father Lord, thank you so much God for just giving us the opportunity to come into your house and worship you this morning. in spirit and in truth and God, as we open up the word of God this morning,

That I pray that anything that was prepared ahead of time and this message. I pray that you would just bless it. That you would take the mouthpiece of your servant this morning and only Proclaim that which you would have him to say. God remove all flesh from from me behind this Pulpit. But God, that you would amplify and glorify your son, Jesus, Christ and your word this morning. As we speak on this. Absolute character of you. And your truth. We love you this morning. We pray all these things in your son's name, Jesus. Amen. To say that truth is absolute, is to say that there is one version of Truth. That is universally acceptable to all people. Throughout all time.

Regardless of individual circumstances.

Today, we live in a world that is increasingly reject. This idea. Many prefer to create alternative versions of the truth, that feel more relevant to their current generation. Simply put mini Define truth.

As what is right? In their own eyes.

This is the defining principle behind post-mortem modernism. The value system that rules this current generation.

Cruz is regarded as a matter of personal perspective.

People today, believe nothing can be known with settled certainty.

And really, this is not a new phenomenon. It's not new. We look at John chapter 18, John 18:37, punches pilot, ask Jesus. If he was the king. If you were the king and Jesus, and him saying you say, rightly that I am a king for this cause I was born and for this, cause I have come into the world that I should bear Witness. To the truth. Everyone who is of the truth. Here's my voice. and Pontius Pilate cynically response, inverse AP says, What is truth? What is truth? Today's society. Collectively answers that question in the most skeptical yet. Arrogant way, possibly. Namely. With the disastrous false notion. That's the only truth that ultimately matters is whatever seems right in your own eyes.

When Moses gave the law to the people of Israel. One of the chief principles he underscored for them was you shall not at all do? As we are doing here today. What was that? He said, every man doing whatever is right in their own eyes.

John MacArthur. said this, he said, The idea that everyone should get to Define for himself. What is right? And true is a recipe for disorder and disaster. It is the very definition of moral Anarchy.

Today's, it's kind of thinking dominates our society, the concept of settled knowable truth is widely considered intellectually inept and Politically Incorrect.

Listen.

An example. Categorizing and fabricating lies.

Such as various genders.

New terms, right? New terms. Such as non-binary, right? Neither exclusively woman or man or is between or Beyond both. Sometimes I refer it to refer to this non-binary is gender fluid or a gender. And you have pangender. People who feel that they cannot be labeled as a female or male or even omnigender. Person who identifies with all gender identities. Or what about my gender? A person who fluctuates between the traditional male and female gender-based behaviors and identities.

And now we take a nap to another one. That's called third gender. The third gender. A term for a person who does not identify with either, man or woman, but identifies with another gender.

Our own government is adding to their terminology. Using the term of birthing people's, right? And listen in an effort to avoid lawsuits, Corporate America and educational institutions have now implemented, gender identity pronoun. In the world. Are you talking about this morning? I live in this world. I live in the secular world. If many of you live in the secular world or educational institutions, you know, what I'm talkin about. Basically, when you introduce yourself to someone, you need to use your pronouns. So that individual knows what gender you identify with.

You say well that's not going on. Yes, it is.

I go through that indoctrination, weekly.

For example, hello. My name is Lee Lentz. my pronouns, are he him, his

Okay, I had to practice that because for some reason, I like the rhyme and I didn't want to go, he, she something, you know, ad and I kept doing that over and over but he him his right, that's how you identify.

But now an individual was taught not to assume that anyone identifies with any gender.

Basically Society. is trying to create a new system, to figure out how we can keep up with who identifies with what

clouded truth.

To say you believe in the god of Truth.

And that they are only two scientific genders of male and female is rejected by the world. Today is considered to not be a knowable truth.

And if you believe in God's Little creation of only male and female, you are considered biased. And it'll actually inept. You are narrow-minded and uneducated.

That is what they're saying.

And I'm not just speaking about.

The conscious. Of the dark Lost World. I mean, why would that surprise anybody in the dark lost world? I mean there's dark, they're lost. They're leaning on their own understanding.

I'm speaking specifically about the up-and-coming generation of profession. Christians families, today, So you got to be kidding me? No, I'm not. I'm talking about the next generation of Salt and Light, That should be penetrating the darkness of this world.

Jesus said in Matthew 5, verse 14, you are the light of this world.

So, what are you talk about pointing to a pole? Conducted by Pew. Research, in 2015, seven years ago. When asked this question, should homosexuality be accepted or rejected in society?

54% of professing Christians say that it should be accepted. That's up, 10% from 2007, that pole was taking 7 years ago.

Homosexuality is just one example. Of Uncertain truth. The lies that they would have you believe. In 2019. Pew, research conducted another pole, and they reported that the majority 58% of Evangelical. Evangelical said cohabitation that's living together. is acceptable, as long as the couple plans to marry

As early as 2012, the General Social Survey found that over 40% of evangelicals in their twenties. Now, this was 2012.

Evangelicals in their 20s. Agreed, that cohabitation is acceptable. Even if a couple has no Express plans to marry.

Listen, I'm just giving you some stats of examples.

How would we get here?

Well, there are many opinions on the contributors of these failures. However, I believe

that Martyn Lloyd, Jones exposes the fundamental problem that exists, okay? He said this Martyn Lloyd Jones, Said this the man whose Doctrine is shaky. Will be shaky in his whole life.

One almost invariably finds that if a man is wrong on the Great Central truths of the faith, he is wrong at every point.

Martin goes on to say, I always find that those who are driven with every wind of Doctrine, are those who are too lazy to study Doctrine,

Listen, I understand that learning and studying sound Bible. Doctrine is not games and movie night at the house. It's not. But listen, I'm absolutely convinced without a shadow of a doubt that are Christian families and our Christian churches today, have become complacent on the Milk of God's truth. Instead of feeding upon the milk, the meat of God's truths

Hebrews chapter 5, Hebrews chapter 5 verses 12 through 14 says

For though, by this time, you want to be teachers.

You need someone to teach you again. The first principles of the Oracles of God. And you have come to need milk and not solid food.

For everyone who partakes, only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness for he is a babe.

But solid food belongs to those who are of full age. This is those who by reason of use, have their senses, exercised to discern, both, good and evil. Did you hear that last part? Those who by reason of use have their senses, exercised? Meaning those who have determined to know, and understand the Oracles of God, the word of God and who got it is.

He sat by now, you should be teaching.

But it's been so long since you have taken a dive into the word that you are in need of being taught again, regarding the first principles of the Oracles of God.

Are our churches are full of people, whose motor is is started, but the transmission is stuck in the park position.

And not just for a few weeks.

But an entire generation.

I don't want to move forward.

I'm satisfied, right? Where I'm at.

Neglecting that which is necessary and foundational sound Bible Doctrine.

Having a clear fundamental understanding of the nature, and character of God is foundational for every child of God. Not just the pastor, not just the Sunday school teacher, but everyone and up you today.

God is truth. Is one of the most inherit, our inerrant aspects of the nature of, who got his got his truth. God is absolute truth and because he is absolute truth. His words are absolute truth.

His truthfulness is a tested throughout the scriptures. Jeremiah 10 chapter 10 verse 10 says, but the Lord is the true God. John chapter 3 and verse 33 John the Baptist also testified of the truthfulness of God. The father he stated he who has received his testimony has certified that God is true.

Jesus proclaims the same truth in his address, to the unbelieving Jews at the temples, in John 7:28, he said, you both know me and you know where I am from and I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true.

Later in John, chapter 17. Jesus, as he's hanging on the cross of Calvary declared and inverse 1 of 17. He said, Jesus spoke these words lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, father the hour has come glorify your son, that your son may glorify you as you have given him authority over All Flesh. And that he should give me Turtle to as many as you have given him. And this is eternal life that they know you. Who said the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

Later, the scripture proclaims in 1st John 5:20. Sis. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding that we may know him. Who is true? And we are in him. Who is true in his son? Jesus Christ. This is the true God. And eternal life.

Charles Spurgeon. Summarize the truth of God by writing this. God in a sermon. He said, God is true, he is true in his very nature. There's no deceit and there's no falsehood or are in the essential nature of God. In our 945 adult Bible study class at we've been studying the Paul Washer series of knowing the Living God. And each chapter deal specifically with an aspect of the nature and work of God. And throughout that study. we learned that while it is important to have the knowledge, regarding the nature of who God is, We also learned that is inherent for the Christian.

To have a holy spirit lead yearning to respond to that knowledge. Having knowledge is one thing. Responding to that knowledge is a whole nother thing.

So what should our response be regarding the knowledge? That you have just received this morning. And knowing that God is true. Well, number one. Number one, we should study his word of Truth. 2nd Timothy Chapter 2 and verse 15 says, be diligent to present yourself approved to God a worker, who does not need to be ashamed. Rightly dividing, the word of Truth.

The Apostle Paul gave an important reproof to his young disciple Timothy here, regarding his relationship with the scriptures. And when the Apostle Paul tells Timothy to be diligent in his study and other scriptures being diligent constitutes, that his study and should be painstakingly meticulous.

Why? Because you Timothy are employed to preach and teach his word of Truth.

And as preachers of the word, it means we are held accountable to show ourselves approved to God. And I don't know about you this morning, but that scares The Living Daylights out of me.

Because that's a man-made of sinful flesh and I'll promise you as most of you already know limited intelligence, okay? I desperately want to be approved of God.

We should have a reverent fear. Of God.

That generates an Earnest desire to be accounted as approved and not that of Shame. Kind of what not knowing are. Handling the word of God as we should.

Now, the response to this truth here to Timothy is not just for the man of God. but also for every believer, Every believer looking at Seasons chapter 6 of seasons 16:11. Starting to verse 11 familiar versus put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against The Wiles of the devil. We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities against Powers against the rulers of Darkness of this age against spiritual hosts of wickedness. In the Heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand and verse 14. staying there for, Having girded your waist with truth.

Rightly handling, the word of God as we should is imperative. And while reading God's word is a good start, I'm not saying anything wrong with man. If you're, if you're reading God's word, that's great. You're on a reading plan, that's great. But having a desire to study the word of God, the word of Truth is imperative to your Christian growth.

You can read through things and never study or Ponder upon that. And really come out. No, no more head than when you just started.

Paul is telling the believer that you are in a battle while on this Earth. Do you realize that you're in a battle this morning?

You are in a battle, a spiritual battle, not against flesh and blood, but against the Prince of Darkness.

Against Satan, and his deceived followers who are compelled to do his bidding.

I can preach a whole sermon. On that chapter in Ephesians. But what I want to hone in on, is that very first article of clothing that is mentioned.

Verse 14, he says stand therefore having girded your waist with truth.

Now why do you suppose why do you suppose that the girdle is the first weapon mentioned here?

Well, because the girdle. Is the component that all other pieces of armor are dependable?

It is foundational to the support and strengthen the soldier for battle.

The Soldier's Effectiveness is dependent upon the girl.

if the girl isn't there, Everything becomes loose and nothing is effective.

Listen to many of our Christian homes and churches are running around with nothing more than a Bailey rope as a girl and no more or are prepared for the onslaught of the fiery darts are being hurled them from the wicked. One Satan.

We have not girded ourselves with the truth.

Will you downplayed Satan as if he's some kind of fairy tale?

And have forgotten the words of Peter in 1st Peter. Chapter 5 in verse 8, where he says, what? Be sober be vigilant because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking, whom he may devour and he's having a feast today. A Feast on our Christian homes.

Walking around having not dirty living cells with the truth.

With the best intentions.

We're trying to protect our families. Average debt of standing against the charge of the lion. We have Crouch down in a fetal position just hoping for the best.

He is not a figment of the imagination.

Satan is real.

Don't downplay him this morning.

I challenge you this morning church. Get out of that, fetal position and began to gird yourself with a truth of God. Put on each piece of armor to Be an Effective soldier in the spiritual battle. We are faced with each and every day.

but you better take a look at what your kids are being exposed to

You're being exposed to it as well. We all our social media bombards, it media, my bardgett Like what you talkin about indoctrination? Will you talk about indoctrinating Doctrine, studying sound Doctrine? Indoctrination? Yes, I am. The world is Doctrine. It is indoctrination your child. Their adoption 18u is a family.

We need to guard our sales with the truth. What's the result of studying the word of God? Well, Psalms chapter 1, Psalms 1:1, He says, blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly nor stands in the path of Sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful, but his Delight is in the law of the Lord. And in his law, doth, he meditate day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bring forth its fruit in its season. Who's Leaf? Also shall not wither and whatever he does shall prosper, who you walking with this morning. Who are you getting your counsel from this morning?

What in your life gives you Joy this morning? A child of God Joy should be rooted in the word of God rooted in the word of Truth. The Thomas said he meditate on it day and night and that word meditate means to Muse or to dwell upon He states that history is firmly planted by the streams of water. It's a source that never runs dry. And most importantly, this individual brings forth good fruit. In God's perfect time. And it shall not die and whatever he does will prosper. Hey, listen. We should study the the word of Truth in our response. But we should also pray number to pray. I understand God's truth. Psalms chapter 25. Vs45 says. Show me your ways. O Lord, teach me your paths, Lead Me In Your Truth and teach me. For you are the god of my salvation on you. I wait all the day. David is praying to God with a sincere plea. To help him know and understand his word of Truth. He said, show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths. Lead Me In Your Truth. And again, he says, teach me.

In Psalms chapter 43, in Psalms. 43 in verse 3, he says oil, send out your light and your truth. Let them leave me. Let them bring me into your Holy Hill and into your Tabernacle. David pleading to God again to bring forth in the light of his word to him? Lord send out your light and your Truth, David understands that in order to make it through the extreme Darkness surrounding him on every side, he needed. The Illuminating Light of the word of God,

Lord, I Need Your Light Of Your Truth. To guide me to a closer relationship to you.

Psalm 119, 105. Many of us can quote that, right? Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

If you're shaved this morning, Jesus said, you are the light of the world, however, in Psalms 109 or 119 and 105 is emphasizing the Declaration that God's word is your GPS.

God's positioning system. Right. Studying his word and praying to understand is imperative for the child of God. God's word. What it light your path.

If you're not studying his word, if you're not praying to understand his word, you are going to constantly stumble in a world that is cursed with other Darkness.

Moms dads. How do you expect to lead your home spiritually? If you yourself do not have an understanding of where you are leading You have got to get in that words so we can Luminate your path because you're in charge of leaving your home.

In response to the knowledge of knowing the true God, we should study the word of Truth.

We should spray to understand God's truth. Number 3. We should obey God's truth. We should obey God's truth. Psalm 86:11.

Teach me your way O Lord, I will walk in your truth unite My Heart To Fear your name.

Not always. Should we study the scriptures and pray that? So we might know God's truth truth but we also must be obedient to God's truth and rejoice when others do. So as well

It's important. 2nd. John 1:4, says this.

I Rejoice greatly. But I have found some of your children Walking In Truth as we receive commandant of the father.

To walk in the truth is too or our daily lives according to God's truth. Especially as it is revealed in the scriptures. Listen. Oh, what a joy. It is.

To a pastor's heart. To see the congregation. He has been called to Pastor is not only studying the word of Truth and praying to understand God's truth. But his walking in obedience to God's truth

and in total contrast,

Most members, most individuals in the congregation will never know or understand the feeling of failure. That I passed your fields to see the members, he Shepherds who hear the truth weekend, week out know the truth. Yet, refuse to walk in the truth.

The Bible refers to them. As Huber's only. And not doers.

James 1:22.

But be ye doers of the what. Word. Bu Dewar's of the word and not hearers only. You're deceiving yourself. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a door, he is like a man observing his natural face in the mirror for observes himself goes away and immediately forgets. What kind of man he was

Many times. It can be extremely deflating. You can pour your heart and soul and preparing for a sermon. And after preached it feel, as if it was all for naught, Right. Charles Spurgeon. Charles Spurgeon known as the prince of preachers, right? Said this concerning his own personal bouts of depression.

I know perhaps, as well as anyone. What depression means? And what it is to feel myself, sinking lower and lower. Yet at the worst. When I reach the lowest depths, I have an inward peace with which no pain or depression can end the least Disturbed. Trusting in Jesus Christ. My savior, there is still a blessed quietness in the deepest Caverns.

All the desire to see God's children walking in obedience to the truth.

E, m bounds.

Said this concerning obedience. If two angels were to receive at the same moment, a commission from God, one to go down and ruler. Grandis Empire. The other two go and sweep the streets of its meanest Village. It would be a matter of entire indifference to each which service fail to his lot. The post of ruler or the post of scavenger For the joy of the Angels lies, only in the obedience to God's will.

All God's people studying the word of Truth, pray and to understand God's truth and walking and complete obedience to God's truth. They overwhelmingly display the countenance illustrating the the fruit of the spirit in Galatians, chapter 5, the spirit of of love, joy, peace suffering, kindness goodness, gentleness and self-control.

Child of God, walking in the spirit as a result of their complete surrender. To walk in obedience to the word of God.

3rd, John.

Verses 1 through 4.

To the Elder to the Beloved Gaius. Whom I love and truth. Beloved, I pray. That you may prosper in all things and be in health. Just as your soul prospers. For I Rejoice greatly when Brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you. Just as you walk in the truth. I have no Greater Joy. Then to hear that my children walk in truth.

The heart's desire of the Pastoral leadership of Beryl Baptist Church is that the members of this body prospers as John says, in all things and in health, but also as your soul prospers, Listen to John is writing this. This is final epistle. And he's marrying the end of his life.

A wife that has been changed dramatically some six decades before when Jesus showed up on the scene and called him and his brother James out of that old fishing boat.

No doubt, he is remembering all the trials. That had taken place. Since that blessed day.

Where the trials worth the cost. Were they worth the cost?

No doubt remembering his own brother James.

As the first of the 12 disciples to die for his face, by The Sword and likely be headed at the hands of the evil King Herod.

And with each passing month.

A h, passing year, the tragic news makes its way to John's ears. Hey, John.

another one of your fellow disciples, Striving together for the Glorious cause of Christ has yet again, falling in a brutal martyr's death.

and now, John What's the only one left remaining? But he takes his pain. And he explained, he exclaims his joy for someone who had he had discipled along the way. He said Gaius. He told he not only Rejoice, but he rejoiced greatly.

He concluded that and verse for, he said, I have no Greater Joy than to hear that. My children walk in truth.

The same expression of Joy declared by John is the same longing that we have for the Bible for this bible-believing church. Nothing gives a pastor more joy than to hear and see that his members are walking in obedience to God's truth.

All we should study the word of Truth. We should pray to understand God's truth.

We should obey. God's truth. And laughed.

We should share God's truth. With others.

Psalms chapter 40 verse 9 through 10.

I have proclaimed, the good news of righteousness. In the greatest sembly. Indeed, I do not restrain my lips. Oh Lord, you yourself know. I have not hit in your righteousness within my heart. I have declared your faithfulness and your salvation. I have not concealed your loving kindness and your truth from the great assemblies.

The truth. It's not just for us personally.

Nor should our obedience. Be our only concern.

if we truly love other believers and the lost world around us, we must share God's truth with him. Why? That they also might live in Conformity to God's will.

Every child of God should have an overwhelming, desire to share God's truth with others.

Matthew 5:16.

Another familiar verse, right? Jesus said, let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father in Heaven.

Ephesians chapter 4 verse 15 says, Speaking. The truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into him. Who is the head? Even Christ?

2nd Timothy Chapter 2 and verse 25 says, with gentleness correcting, those who are in opposition. Why it perhaps God May grant them repentance? Leading. To the knowledge of the truth. Why is it important that we share God's truth? Because God May grant them repentance.

Lead them to the knowledge of his truth.

When is the last time you shared the gospel with someone else?

maybe saying, well,

I'm just not a good at speaking with others. I'm just not a good speaker, brother Lee.

Well, here's the good news. The Bible doesn't say that you have to be.

John 10:25 through 37, he answered them. And said, I told you And you did do not believe. The Works that I do and my father's name, they bear witness of me. But you do not believe.

Because you are not of my sheep. As I told as I said to you my sheep hear my voice. And I know them. And they follow me. Verse 28 and I give them eternal life and they shall never perish. Neither shall any one. Snatch them out of my hand. My father. Who has given them to me. Is greater than all. And no one is able to snatch them out of my father's hands.

We are not in control. Of who believes and who doesn't? Goddess.

God, simply wants us to walk in obedience. By sharing with someone.

How the god of Truth. Change your life through the truth of his glorious gospel.

We love you, we praise you. Give you all the glory and honor this morning. We ask all these things in your precious son's name, Jesus. A man.
