The Sadducees were grieved because the disciples were teaching and preaching the resurrection of the dead through Jesus. Acts 3:14-15 “14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.”
They did not believe in the supernatural.
The message of Christ was a threat to their authority.
Jesus’ Name has all authority!
It is in the Name of Jesus Christ that we pray - John 14:13-14 “13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.”
It is in the Name of Jesus Christ do good - Mark 9:37 “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”
It is in the Name of Jesus that demons tremble - Acts 16:18 “18 And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.”
It is in the Name of Jesus that we receive the forgiveness of sins - Acts 10:43 “To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.””

Salvation does not come through any other name.
It is only the Lord Jesus Christ that provides eternal life.
Peter confronted the religious leaders with their sin in killing the Lord of glory. They rejected the cornerstone. They were at that moment rejecting their only hope.
The proof of the miracle was the lame man standing right before them. He only demonstrated that greater miracle that Jesus has been raised from the dead! His tomb is empty! He has secured eternity.
Your works cannot not save you. Your position cannot not save you. Your wealth cannot not save you. The Government cannot save you.

The religious leaders could not deny the miracle or the good work. They just sought to keep the disciples from speaking the name of Jesus.
There is only one name that deserves our complete devotion. The name of Jesus!
Phil 2:5-11 “5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
