Genesis 6:5–8 KJV 1900
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Title: Look what I found!
It’s an interesting study to research things that have been accidentally discovered…
Penicillin
Microwave - Percy Spencer walked in front of a magnetron with a chocolate bar in his pocket and suddenly found that he had a pocket full of warm, melted chocolate.
Velcro
Teflon
Vulcanized rubber
Coca-Cola
Other finds...
Man in Melbourne Australia was walking his appropriately named dog, Lucky and found a 20oz gold (24K) nugget laying on the ground.
In 2019 Thai fisherman Jumrus Thiachot was walking home from work along the beach earning about $13/day. He found a 14 lb chunk of ambergris - highly sought after by perfumers as a spec of it in an ounce of perfume makes the fragrance last longer. The call it floating gold. This 14lb chunk of it was worth $320,000! What is ambergris you may ask? Whale vomit! Yes there is a chance that the majority of us today is wearing whale vomit!
It’s is absolutely amazing what has been found on accident!
Usually in a bunch of junk...
This is what our story is about today...
The world was in chaos.
The world was so wicked that it actually made God ashamed that he had made man.
BUT Noah...
In all the chaos! In all the sin! In all the selfishness, anger, perversion, addiction
Noah found grace!
Grace:
1. elegance, beauty of form, pleasing
2. manifestation of favor or goodwill
Grace is the power to fulfill, complete the will of God - ability to overcome!
So in a world of chaos, where mankind was lying, stealing, cheating, killing - doing everything wrong and nothing right...
NOAH FOUND THE ABILITY TO DO RIGHT!
It wasn’t something he deserved!
It wasn’t something he earned!
It wasn’t something he was even looking for!
But he found grace in the eyes of God!
What power did grace give him?
Power to influence his family.
Power to take the next century and build a boat and save the human race.
Power to be an overcomer!
Conclusion:
In a world of chaos when it seems that there is no hope...
When your life seems like it is spinning out of control...
God’s grace can always be found!
Acts 17:27 KJV 1900
That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
