Let There Be Lights

This is a new creation separate from the creation of light itself.

Purposes of the Lights

Separate the day from the night
For signs
For seasons
For days
For years
To give light on the earth

The Greater Light

The Greater Light (i.e. the sun) rules or dominates the day.
The sun provides all of the energy we need to live.
The sun is one of the most stable stars that we know of.

The Lesser Light

The Lesser Light (i.e. the moon) rules or dominates the night.
This does not mean that the moon produces its own light or that it is the brightest object in all of space.
The origin of the moon creates many problems for evolutionists.
The recession of the moon refutes billions of years.
The moon is vital for our oceans to function properly and for life to thrive.

And the Stars

Written almost as an afterthought.
There are a huge variety of stars.
1 Corinthians 15:40-41 “There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.”
The stars cannot be counted.
Jeremiah 33:22 “As the host of heaven cannot be numbered and the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levitical priests who minister to me.””
In the observable universe, it is estimated to contain about 10 to the 22nd power amount of stars.
If you had a computer that could count a trillion of these stars every second, it would take over 300 years to count this high.

Day 4

Again, a literal day.
A forth day, not the forth day.

Why Did God Create These Lights on Day 4?

To guard against false worship.
The sun is not the source of life, God is.

Objections to the Biblical Account

Why so big?
Psalm 8:3-4 “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”
Light beams
Light created in transit
A combination of universe expansion and relativity theories
Galileo excuse for long-age compromise

A Sovereign God

God is the source of life.
God is all powerful.
God took great care to provide all we need.
God cares for us, even though we are a speck in the universe.
