N.H. Legalizes 'Gay Marriage' With Religious Protections
Last week, New Hampshire became the sixth state to legalize homosexual "marriage." The revised bill includes religious exemptions which specify that all religious organizations, associations, or societies have exclusive control over their religious doctrines, policies, teachings and beliefs on marriage. Church-related organizations that serve charitable or educational purposes are exempt from having to provide insurance and other benefits to same-sex spouses of employees. New Hampshire churches can decide whether to conduct religious marriages for same-sex couples. However, the religious liberties of individuals and small businesses are not protected. The bill goes into effect January 1. Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Iowa also allow homosexual "marriage." [Reuters.com]
