What is it about sacrifice that scares us? I am not talking about the Sacrifice on the cross but in our daily lives. Tending the Garden - Pastor Sven Frantzen 2023-06-03
Theme Text: Genesis 1:28 NKJV
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
It is spring time and we are all looking to a great season of growing plants in our garden. Whether it is fruits, berries, or just beautiful plants, we are excited about tending our gardens.
God has called us from the very beginning to tend the garden. He said this in Genesis 1:28: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:”
But there is another garden that God wants us to tend; the garden of the Kingdom of God. God asks us to carry fruit worthy of repentance. This sermon highlights how you can help grow the fruits in the Kingdom of God.

Amid the threat of impending doom, Yahweh calls the Judahites to return to him with complete repentance. His grace is more significant than their failure, and he is willing to bless and grant them a second chance. God's people acknowledge the Lord is ready to forgive in light of his character as long as we supply him our allegiance and faith.
Joel the Prophet

Yahweh sends a plague of locusts upon the Judahites because of an undisclosed sin. During this desolation, speaking through the prophet, God calls them to wail, weep, and lament. The response in their suffering is to gather together and call on the name of the Lord.

There's a lot happening in the world right now. Are we reading the signs correctly?
Jesus' message to the crowds who've heard him is clear: there is an urgent need to turn away from sin and towards Him right now, because God's patience is limited.

Religious observance isn’t repentant obedience. God lovingly warns his people if they haven’t truly repented. How can we ensure we are living lives of repentant obedience? Repentant obedience practices mercy, prioritises God, and promotes enjoyment.
