The way of Jesus, of His Kingdom, sets us free from the tyrrany of personal vendetta. We are free to forgive and love and help people who hurt us, who wound our pride, and who persecute us, who anger us. We are free to give away what we have knowing that God, who owns everything, is able to provide and protect and repay so that there will always be, in the end, justice, though we may see much injustice around us. God knows. Remember, while being hurt, Jesus neither fought back, nor ran away, rather he absorbed the hurt and forgave those responsible. The Spirit of Jesus is within all those who follow Him, trusting Him, those who've been born from above. LORD, help us to be different than we are. Recorded at Refuge TLH on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

As we have studied the book of Genesis we have had many occasions to talk about God's work for good in the difficult times of life. We’ve all heard the saying: a picture is worth a thousand words. It is not as good as the real thing but a picture can communicate more than words can do. Seeing a picture of the mountains of Switzerland is better than trying to describe the mountains. Telling an illustration as a speaker is more effective…

In Bill Hybels excellent book, “Descending into Greatness” he writes, Take ten chickens. Any ten. Put them in a pen together, and spread a little chicken feed. In short order, you will witness an amazing phenomenon. In a matter of minutes, the chickens, previously strangers, will form a hierarchy based…

Sovereignty of God. At the tender age of six, not having long been in this country, we went down south. Dad was speaking at a Vic Hudson camp at Gunn’s Bush. After the camp, seeing we hadn’t seen much of New Zealand yet, we did a little bit of a tour around and stayed at Duntroon, right next the mighty…

illustration: Jackie in Boston There is a society problem where churches close their doors to those who need them open the most. The "Back-Pew Warmer" is more important than the hurting on the street. Where do they turn if not to us? Isa 58:1-12 The Hollow (Internally Focused) Church (vv. 1-5) Isaiah…

Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask…
