As God’s people are leaving Egypt, we get a glimpse into a unique aspect of how God leads us. God could have easily taken them the short route to the Promised Land, but instead he takes them the long way around. God’s way is often the long way, but he has purpose in it, and he is always with us!

We are not alone. God is with us in the good times and the hard.

God wants to establish a gold standard for this generation. That standard is carried by his presence, unhindered by current political, financial, or educational systems. David wrote Psalm 105 after he invited God’s presence back to Jerusalem. The Arc of God was lost for 70 years; finally, that presence is home. However, it must go through the house of Obed-Edom.

What comes first the chicken or the egg, the confidence or the win, the presence of God or the performance of man? While this narrative doesn’t answer all those questions, it does grant insight into how God’s presence is enjoyed and leveraged for those who stand in need.

It's been said that we are products of our environment. Some kids grow up with well connected parents and have great advantage in society. Others not so much. But whether we grew up with a mom and a dad, or single parent, or even as an orphan, our homelife has made a huge impact on how we live our lives today. The same is true with Esau and Jacob. How to practice God's presence.

Pentecost is a fulfillment of many Old Testament prophecies, but more importantly it is the Gift of the ascended Christ to be with us until he comes again.

God is everywhere, but doesn't always make his presence known.
