God is a Great King. He is a good Father. He is more patient and kind than we have imagined Him to be. There is great joy in His Kingdom when even one sinner repents; when we change our mind and lay our trust in Him, alone. May we walk humbly considering ourselves and the gift of salvation to those who believe. God, keep us from arrogant, prideful attitudes of self-righteousness. Kelly shared with us today the story of the Prodigal Son. The father was waiting with wide open arms for his lost son to come home. The Father does the same with us. God is always home. He always leaves the light on for us! Is our home a place where God would like to visit? Are we serving and showing the fruit of the Spirit?

Jesus gave the parable of the Prodigal son to address both sinners and Pharisees. Father gave inheritance unlike most, welcomed back sinner with complete forgiveness and dealt with resentful older brother.

Importance of returning home where our Father can comfort and take care of us. FINDING YOUR TRUE HOME What happened to the prodigal son that made him go home? What does it mean “he (the son) came to his senses”? Has there ever been a time when you came to your senses? What was the father filled with when he saw his son returning home? What does Matthew 6:33 tell us to do to be sure we can find our way home?

The parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the prodigal son reveal God's heart for us. Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners. Each of us is unique and special to God. God rejoices when the lost is found.

In the parable of the prodigal son we learn about the love of the father. It is that same love that our Heavenly Father shows to us.

This story about a father's 2 sons is a story about us. It is a call from our loving God to repent and return to Him and a warning against the hardness of empty religion.
