What exactly is God's role in temptatons or tests? What's the difference between those 2 things? This sermon examines ideas from "Deliver us from evil" in the Lord's Prayer.

God's business is no different from other businesses when it requires its products to go through Quality Control to inspect and maintain the quality of the product or services offered. God wants us to be people of Quality. He has a system of tests and inspections to ensure that we pass inspection as we represent Him throughout the world as we serve Him to others.

Life is full of tests. For most of us, tests are to be shunned, while others don't seem to mind so much. And those who don't mind are the ones who are prepared to take their tests. But like it or not, there is a test that every person on the planet must take. And pass. Eternity lliterally hangs in the balance. What is that test? How does one prepare for it? The basic meaning of temptation (peirasmos) is simply to test or prove and has no negative connotation. whether it becomes a proof of righteousness or an inducement to evil depending on our response. If we resist it in God's power, it is a test that proves our faithfulness. If we do not resist, it becomes a solicitation to sin. The Bible uses the term in both ways.

John continues in his letter to reassure believers of their salvation and reveal for those who think they believe but are not truly saved marks in their life that tell what their true spiritual condition is. This time he points people to these tests: Are you loving the saints? Are you praying confidently?; are you obeying God because you love Him?; Are you trusting Christ?; Are you spiritually alive?
