The way of Jesus, of His Kingdom, sets us free from the tyrrany of personal vendetta. We are free to forgive and love and help people who hurt us, who wound our pride, and who persecute us, who anger us. We are free to give away what we have knowing that God, who owns everything, is able to provide and protect and repay so that there will always be, in the end, justice, though we may see much injustice around us. God knows. Remember, while being hurt, Jesus neither fought back, nor ran away, rather he absorbed the hurt and forgave those responsible. The Spirit of Jesus is within all those who follow Him, trusting Him, those who've been born from above. LORD, help us to be different than we are. Recorded at Refuge TLH on Sunday, July 14, 2019.

Most of us have had an experience where someone hurt us deeply. Maybe it was a physical wound someone inflicted upon you. Maybe it was a loss that someone else caused you. It may be something untrue that someone said about you that left deep wounds. It could be the betrayal of a confidence, or some other…

LIVING GRACEFULLY (5): JUDGE NOT (Luke 6:37-38) Intro – Someone has said, “The only thing good about being imperfect is the joy it brings others.” I suppose that’s one way to look at it. But those who joy in condemning others are like the snake who asked his companion, “Are we poisonous?” The second…

March 20, 2012 BY: John Barnett Read, print, or listen to this resource on our website www.DiscoverTheBook.org The wonder of Jesus is how long He waits to avenge evil upon the earth. For all of human history since Eden Satan has seemingly triumphed. For thousands of years sin and death have run riotously…

INTRODUCTION: Having discussed some of the gifts of the body, Paul moves on to exhort the Roman Christians in how the parts of the body should function together. What does it look like when the saints are being knit together in love, as they ought to be? Paul gives us a distinctively Pauline expression…

Grudge/Vengeance Week of October 3 He Can Heal the Hurt by Max Lucado Grudge is one of those words that defines itself. Its very sound betrays its meaning. Say it slowly: "Grr-uuuud-ge." It starts with a growl. "Grr ..." Like a bear with bad breath coming out of hibernation or a mangy mongrel defending…

“The Lord of the Dragon” Revelation 12 So, we are right in the middle of this intense study of Revelation. Are we all doing alright? The reason I ask is because we’ve been looking at some heavy duty stuff dealing with the wrath of God on the earth and its inhabitants. There is death and destruction everywhere.…

2 Kings 9 Introduction Have you ever wondered why God allows persecution of his servants? Why doesn’t he immediately exercise his omnipotent power over his opposition? Why does he wait? I know that I am not the only one who wrestles with these questions. We hear the psalmist cry out in chapter 35, “Lord…
