Pastor Glenn • Grace United Family Church • Sermon • • 17 views • 29:41
We live in a pluralistic society. Obviously. Why then do we as a culture set aside weeks, if not months preparing for a distinctively Christian holiday, celebrating the birth of the Jewish Messiah? Do we even need Christmas? Come with the Grace United crew as we talk about and seek an answer to the question: "Who needs Christmas?"

Often, even as followers of Jesus, we find our immediate response regarding behavioral psychological issues to be more in line with an unbelieving, materialistic, naturalistic worldview. This, in spite of the fact that Jesus regularly dealt with, talked about, and affirmed the reality of the meta-physical, the unseen spiritual world in which we live. At the very least, we should pause and pray, consider, and seek the LORD in the situations in which we find ourselves in relation to the people around us in regard to both their and our behavior. Maybe there's more to humans that random, electrical impulses, synapses, and chemicals. Where do we draw the line anyhow? And who gets to decide where that line even is? God has made a world full of powerful elements. Medicine can be good. We ought to trust in God and be wise. We are to live by faith. A father was walking down the street with his two small sons, both of whom were crying loudly. A neighbor passing by inquired, “What’s the matter? Why all the fuss?” The father responded, “The trouble with these lads is what’s wrong with the world. One has a piece of candy and the other wants it!” This…

The last two chapters in the book of Hebrews are designed to apply faith. It is important to understand that there is a sense in which you cannot apply these things without understanding what has come before. In other words, unless you truly understand the gospel: that we are a mess but God has come…

By Pastor Glenn Pease Epictetus, the ancient philosopher said, "If a man is unhappy, this must be his own fault, for God made all men to be happy." A Christian writer, St. Bernard, said something similar. "Nothing can work me damage except myself; the harm that I sustain I carry about with me, and never…

Intro – A husband takes a couple of bites then says to his wife, “Honey, I’m afraid there’s been a breakdown in communication -- between you – and Julia Child.” Clear communication is critical, and made harder because much communication is non-verbal.
