Lex Credendi | Particular Vocations At the moment of Baptism, each soul receives a call from God to their earthly life working towards eternal life. This call is unlike any human call. When we call to someone, such as our children, we need to repeat ourselves over and over again. By contrast, God’s call…

It is hard for me to preach on prayer this morning as prayer has never been my strongest Spiritual Endeavor. We can walk through the histories of great saints of the church and see among them men and women of prayer who God used mightily for his purposes. And in that moment you might even recommit to…

We should be cautious in sitting comfortably today in judgment of these merchants and temple authorities. How often have we misused our own Worship Space as a place to catch up with friends, exchange gossip, discuss the latest political or Church controversy, conduct Church or any other kind of business? In short, we are chasing our own agendas, our own business. We sit in the Holy of Holies with our Lord present in the Tabernacle before us, and we are oblivious. How often have we done this despite noticing that there is someone several pews over who, sitting or on their knees, are engaged in prayer? How often has someone asked us to step outside or, shushed us, and we have responded with anger or passive refusal? It is then that Isaiah’s words should come back to us, “For my house shall be called a house of prayer.”

How do we read and understand the accounts of miracles that Jesus performed in his ministry? One of the main reasons that we’ve committed to studying the psalms every summer is because we believe that the psalms teach us how to pray. This book was the prayerbook of Israel. It was Christ’s prayer book, and so if we want to learn how to pray, the book of Psalms seems a great place to find quality…

Ephesians

Ephesians is a letter but it is a letter that contains a revelation about a mystery. A mystery that has been lost, tossed aside or forgotten. It is a letter containing the revelation of the mystery of God's colony in the countryside of death. When the mystery is revealed it shows us a picture of what we all hope we, the Jesus followers, the church, could be if the rich roots from this Trinitarian soil could just take over our garden, our colony of heaven, our church.
