Lessons from the crowd throughout Mark 6.

We are frequently pursuing things that we believe will make life easier or gentler. We are frequently making choices to follow after things that we think will keep us from difficulties. Jesus presents Himself as the One who rescues from death; He who brings eternal life to those who will pursue Him, those who will trust in Him. Many are trying to work God's works... Jesus seems to turn the tables on this idea reminding us that God is the One who works in us. We must receive Jesus' life or we have no eternal life. We can receive His eternal life now. We often focus on the material world whereas Jesus reminds us that it is the Spirit that gives life, the flesh, the body, the material doesn't provide profit in spiritual things. Let us lay, as we are enabled, our trust and hope in Jesus alone. He died for our sins, He has been buried, and He has already been raised from the dead. The feeding of the 5000 was a sermon in action. It gave the opportunity for the disciples to demonstrate compassion, see a problem as an opportunity for God to work, and to give God what they had, trusting Him with the rest. In the crisis hours of life, when your resources are low and your responsibilities are great, it's good to remember that God already has the problem solved.

Jesus met the needs of the people every where He went. His genuine love for people didn't stop at their physical needs, He offered spiritual renewal and eternal life. Through the doubt and lack of understanding from His disciples, Jesus time and time again made a way that became evident to those that were there to witness.

Jesus would not be arrested and made King.

Experiencing Jesus' loving provision today should lead us to trust Him to take care of tomorrow.
