Luke 4:18-19

Last week we began our series on “Red Letters.”

We explored the Gospels in short detail.

Today we will focus on the Declared Mission of Jesus and the continuing fulfillment of that mission today through the Church!

What is the American Church’s responsibility to the world?

2. What should our attitude be towards the rest of the world?

3. Have we represented Jesus well in the areas of Proclaiming Christ, Discipleship and Humanitarian Efforts?

4. Do we really understand that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a GLOBAL GOSPEL, that Jesus died for the WHOLE WORLD, that the Bible is not a Middle Eastern religious book but it is God’s Word to the WHOLE WORLD?

5. What are we going to do moving forward?

I. THE MISSION OF JESUS - THE DRIVING FORCE OF THE GOSPEL - LUKE 4:18-19

Jesus went on to fulfill His mission during His earthly ministry and He continues fulfilling His mission through us today.

I. LA MISIÓN DE JESÚS - LA FUERZA MOTRIZ DEL EVANGELIO - LUCAS 4:18-19

Jesús continuó cumpliendo Su misión durante Su ministerio terrenal y Continúa cumpliendo Su misión a través de nosotros hoy.

A. Preach the Gospel to the Poor

1.

The Gospel to the poor is that God Loves poor people and will help take care of you if you let Him!

2. This is Outreach, Missions, Declarations of God’s Love, FOCUSING ON NUMBERS (a number represents a soul)

Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done.

A. Predicad el Evangelio a los pobres

1. ¡El Evangelio a los pobres es que Dios ama a los pobres y te ayudará a cuidarte si lo dejas!

2. Esto es Alcance, Misiones, Declaraciones del Amor de Dios, CENTRÁNDOSE EN LOS NÚMEROS (un número representa un alma)

B. Heal the Brokenhearted

1. Ministering Hope to the hopeless and Life to the lifeless

2. Life happens, Life can be shattering… Jesus can put you back together again!

Psalm 147:3 (NLT)

He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

B. Sanar a los quebrantados de corazón

1. Ministrar Esperanza a los desesperados y Vida a los sin vida

2. La vida pasa, la vida puede ser devastadora... ¡Jesús puede volver a juntarlos de nuevo!

Salmos 147:3 Él sana a los quebrantados de corazón y venda sus heridas.

C. Preach Deliverance to the Captives

No one starts out trying to be an addict…

2. There are many kinds of bondage.

Bondage to drugs, alcohol, promiscuity are the things that come into our minds first.

• What about pride, the past, a failing idea, a failure, or negative thoughts?

Psalm 107:14 (NLT)

He led them from the darkness and deepest gloom; he snapped their chains.

C. Predicar la liberación a los cautivos

D. Recovering of Sight to the Blind

1. I’m sure this refers primarily to physical

2. However, many were blinded by the Law and could not recognize the Messiah when they “saw” Him!

Luke 4:20–21 (NLT)

He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down.

All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently.

Then he began to speak to them.

“The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”

Luke 24:31 (NLT)

Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.

And at that moment he disappeared!

Luke 24:45 (NLT)

Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

D. Recuperación de la vista a los ciegos

E. Set at Liberty them that are Bruised.

1. Do you feel beaten, shattered and torn?

2. I can say from experience… Jesus can help you heal from the pain…

3. Jesus can relate to your pain.

Isaiah 53:3–4 (NLT)

He was despised and rejected— a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief.

We turned our backs on him and looked the other way.

He was despised, and we did not care.

Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down.

And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!

E. Pon en libertad a los que están magullados.

1. ¿Te sientes golpeado, destrozado y desgarrado?

2. Puedo decir por experiencia... Jesús puede ayudarte a sanar del dolor...

3. Jesús puede relacionarse con tu dolor.

Isaías 53:3-4 Él es despreciado y rechazado de los hombres; un hombre de penas y familiarizado con el dolor: y nos escondimos como si fueran nuestros rostros de él; él fue despreciado, y nosotros no lo estimamos.

4 Ciertamente, él ha soportado nuestras penas, y llevado nuestras penas; sin embargo, lo estimamos afligido, herido de Dios y afligido.

F. Preach the Acceptable Year of the Lord

The time is NOW… You don’t have to wait another minute.

Jesus will help you RIGHT NOW!

THE MISSION OF JESUS IS STILL BEING FULFILLED TODAY BY JESUS THROUGH HIS BODY… THE CHURCH!
