People suppress the conscience and try to hold down the truth WHY

When you hold down your conscience, it does not get more docile and calm - IT GETS MORE VIOLENT

How do we do this
We take aspects of of our conscience, the good moral principles and we wrench the out of context to make a bad thing we want to do, actually seem good.

in other words, to trend well, we will cover up evil with moral sounding terms like
Choice
Equality
Justice
Love
Tolerance
Fairness
Who couldn’t be for these things right - so in order to make we trend well in society, I need to be for these things? Right?
In context these are moral goods, but they are deceptions when they are used to excuse, rationalize, or give cover to evil.
For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
