We take aspects of of our conscience, the good moral principles and we wrench the out of context to make a bad thing we want to do, actually seem good.
in other words, to trend well, we will cover up evil with moral sounding terms like

Fairness
Who couldn’t be for these things right - so in order to make we trend well in society, I need to be for these things?
Right?
In context these are moral goods, but they are deceptions when they are used to excuse, rationalize, or give cover to evil.
