So today is New Year's Day even New Year and probably in most cultures.
I know the Chinese have a different day, they celebrate New Year but it's a time to kind of think about what's gone before.
And in some cases, celebrate the great things have gone before.
Another case is, look back with regret or look at difficulty.
Just rolls, you've gone with think we're going to go down a different path.
We're going to change things, maybe it's a bad habit, maybe it's the lack of discipline in your finances or whatever.
Might be you you say that's a New Year's.
I'm going to try something new and so it's something negative you want to put behind you or another cases.
Maybe it's something.
I'm going to make a resolution to do something good.
Do something positive.
You know, I'm going to lose weight.
I'm going to read the Bible, through the whole year, things like that.
If it's a time to think about New Beginnings, you get a second chance to where it's a time to take a fresh.
Look at things, right?
Then, staying in this passage were going to look at two people.
It's just more than coincidental that this just happens to be the Let me come to where we come across and Jesus interacts with two people who are likewise at a Crossroads at a turning point in their lives.
Are there something is got to change, something is going to change and they're huge momentous.
Things that are about to happen there.
Two people who couldn't be more different than most ways.
It's one man who was well respected and honored, he's a leader in his community.
He's probably not necessarily rich but he certainly comfortable.
He has a loving family and a child who has loved, who is now just about to come to maturity and become an adult.
Everything looks very good for this man and everyone would know him and respect him.
And it would look up to this man.
And then there's another person in this story and her story is exact opposite to his, she is alone, she has been tormented by a terrible chronic disease, her entire adult life.
She would be separated from the community.
She would not be able to go near other.
She would be by Herself.
She probably have no family at this point.
And likewise, she's coming to her turning point and at this point and so they are so completely separate.
It's almost hard to imagine what they have in common, but they have one thing in common, they come to a turning point in their lives where they are without hope.
And if he is, it says you were without god without hope in the world.
In these two, people have come to a point in their life where they were truly without hope, they had one desperate last gasp of left in.
That was Jesus.
And that's, that's we're going to look at this today.
One of these people will get an answer to this problem In this passage in next week.
We'll see that answer to the other person's request of Jesus.
The passages 8:48.
It says, when Jesus returned the crowd welcomed him for, they were all expecting him.
Just and a man named gyrus came.
He was a leader of the synagogue, you fell down at Jesus feet and plead with him to come to his house.
Because he had only, he had an only daughter about 12 years old and she was dying while he was going.
The crowds were nearly crushing him.
A woman suffering from bleeding for 12 years, we spent all she had on doctors and yet could not be healed by any approach from behind and touched the end of his robe instantly.
Her bleeding stopped who touched me.
Jesus asked when they all denied.
If Peter said Master, the Crowds Are him.
And you in in pressing against you some one did touch me said, Jesus.
I know the power has gone out from me when the woman saw that she was discovered.
She came, trembling and fell down before him and the presence of all the people she declared.
The reason she had touched them.
How she was instantly.
Healed daughtery said to her, your faith has saved you, go in.
Peace of prey.
Father God, we thank you for this.
Beautiful passage here on this beautiful story of these.
Two people who came to Jesus and their most desperate time of need at the end of their rope with really, no, hope left in.
Not knowing what Jesus could do, would you, but fully aware that he could do what they needed.
And we thank you for how Jesus responded to these requests.
We thank you for the lessons.
We have to learn from this that continuing message about who Jesus is in the power that he had the authority that he had been having power and authority is great.
But more importantly the mercy and the grace and the love that he had.
For these people who are so desperate in such great need that he was more than willing to save them more than willing to reach out and touch them and change their lies Grantham, the thing that they requested, but in the end he granted and far more than what they asked for.
We we thank you for this beautiful passage in the time that we study it now is we to think about the coming year and we Face different challenges before us and we pray that you help us food from this passage in a reminded of what you can and have done for others and most of all the reality of the heart that you have for those who are suffering and to our morning in those who are sick and most importantly those were separated from God.
We just thank you for this in Jesus name we pray.
Amen.
Is it go for this passage?
What we see is Jesus predict is if presented, here is the Last Hope of the desperately hopeless week?
We first see with the first person, that 12 years of Joy are coming into a heartbreaking end and the second person that we represented two were introduced to.
We see 12 years of misery that have no end in sight, and then we'll see that a life has changed in an instant What a little context you remember it?
Two weeks ago, not last week.
Last week, we looked at 9 to talk about the coming light that has represented.
But two weeks ago, we finished up at 33 sermons, where we talked about Jesus delivering his disciples from this great storm on the Sea of Galilee and exercising, his Absolute Total and complete Authority, his authority to command nature.
His absolute authority over nature, which could only indicate that he was God himself that he had the power to story about himself and then we saw him exercise in a similar way, the same type of absolute complete undeniable Authority from his very words over the entire evil Supernatural around and passing out thousands of demons at his word with no question.
No battle, no grade rigmarole.
Simply cussing them out that he had absolute authority over the supernatural world in the Supernatural, evil that exists in this world.
And then we saw the response to this Authority was demonstrated, how to different groups of two people, one person and one other guy, People responded to the greatest.
Jesus exercise.
One in faith and 1 in total fear and rejection.
But after that, you know, the interesting thing about the story about him going to the decapolis.
He was there for a few hours at the most and then he immediately got back in the boat and returned to Galilee.
And that's the context of what's Happening Here.
He had left across the sea to the Capitol.
Has he done these two great things and immediately returned but interesting Lee, as he had demonstrated his authority over, the supernatural realm that you will force his hand over nature.
He's not going to demonstrate the similar authority, over sickness and death in the context of this passage.
So it begins with him for.
They were all expecting him.
So when he returned, we just discuss is when he returned from the other side of the galley.
It's, I found this.
A thing is, I read it.
It said the crowd welcomed him for.
They were all expecting him.
Is he went across to the other side of the Sea of Galilee.
I don't remember.
Don't know whether the crowd was aware of the fact that he was going all the way across the sea.
I mean, could be that he would be going in or not completely across the sea to close to this next largely Gentile area, or they didn't know for sure where he was going to go to another case, where he got in the boat, and he went a little farther out and then they kind of laying it on another store and went away and to get away from the crowds.
But did they know what do they have?
Any idea that he was going to completely across the Sea of Galilee and did they know when he would return?
I mean, one would assume that he's going to take this dangerous difficult trip across the Sea of Galilee that he might have an intention to stay on the other side of the few Galley, in the decapolis were picked a Define But as soon as he returns there waiting for me, just get this picture of these.
