Leading yourself is making some key decisions and then managing those decisions.
Health Club - crowded first of Jan but empty by Mardi Gras
Michaely Hyatt says that you can have about 5 to 7 goals on your goal sheet at at time and no more.

1. Manage Your Emotions.

Proverbs 29:11 NLT

The man who lost his job in a fit of rage because he did ot get a promotion
You are 144% more likely to make a mistake or have an accident when you are upset or having emotional problems. 1/6 of those who had wrecks had an argument within the last 6 hours before the accident.
Good leaders know when to show emotion and when to not show emotion. The decision is based on what’s good for them team.

2. Manage Your Time.

Ephesians 5:15–17 NLT
15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.
Colossians 4:5 NLT
5 Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity.
Using our time wisley is difficult at times because at work, others control at least some of your time.
Psalm 90:12 NIV
12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Think about things you want to buy or do in terms of time and not just money. You earn the money you have with your time, so when you blow some money, you are throwing away your time, which is limited.
Live with Eternity in mind
2 Corinthians 4:18 NLT
18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
We have limited time, so we need to use it wll with eternity in mind.
What will change in your daily routine when you think in terms of etentiy.
Morning Routine - Exercise, Devotionals, Eat, Read...
Evening Routine - Reflect on your day, make notes for the next day, Pray, read

3. Manage Your Priorities.

“I would like to be remembered as a guy who had a set of priorities, and was willing to live by those priorities.” George W. Bush”
This is difficult for many of us because many of our priorities at work are contolled by other people.
Matthew 6:33 NLT
33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
2 Corinthians 5:9 NLT
9 So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please him.
Colossians 1:10 NLT
10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.
As long as we place God first, he promises to take care of the rest, but there are some practical steps we can take.
Practical Steps
When given the opportunity to prioritize your own tasks, do so and let your boss know and how it worled out.
Spend 80% of your time in your strength areas
Spend 15% of your time in areas where you are learning
Spend 5% of your time in other necessary areas.
You may have to trade off responsibilites with others.

4. Manage Your Energy.

Look at Your Calendar and determine your big rocks and your little rocks. What are the 3 things yiou have to get done today? Do those first

Avoid the ABC’s Of Energy Drain

A - Activity without Direction
B - Burden without Action
C - Conflict without Resolution

5. Manage Your Thinking.

“Your Mind will give back what you put into it.”
Philippians 4:8 NLT
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
If you are too buys, make a list of what you need to reflect on at the end of the day for the next.
The greatest enemy of good thinking is business. You have to carve out some time in the day to tink.

6. Manage Your Words.

1 Peter 3:10 NLT
10 For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.
Colossians 4:6 NLT
6 Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.
Think about the words you are using and make sure they are moving you towards your goals.
Ephesians 4:29 NLT
29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Proverbs 10:19 NLT
19 Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.
Leaders value their time, so choose your words wisely… make them valuable.
If you are managing your thinking, it will help in the area of the words you use.

7. Manage Your Personal Life

If you do everything right at work, but your personal life is messed up, not only will you be miserable, but you will eventually bring that sourness to the job and sabotage yourself.
Climbing the ladder of success is not worth losing your marriage or your children over.
JM – Success is having those closet to me love and respect me the most.
If you cannot lead yourself, Others wont follow you / respect you / or partner with you.
The Better you are at doing what you should be doing, the better chance you have for making an impact on others
Acts 26:12–29 NLT
12 “One day I was on such a mission to Damascus, armed with the authority and commission of the leading priests. 13 About noon, Your Majesty, as I was on the road, a light from heaven brighter than the sun shone down on me and my companions. 14 We all fell down, and I heard a voice saying to me in Aramaic, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? It is useless for you to fight against my will.’ 15 “ ‘Who are you, lord?’ I asked. “And the Lord replied, ‘I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. 16 Now get to your feet! For I have appeared to you to appoint you as my servant and witness. Tell people that you have seen me, and tell them what I will show you in the future. 17 And I will rescue you from both your own people and the Gentiles. Yes, I am sending you to the Gentiles 18 to open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God. Then they will receive forgiveness for their sins and be given a place among God’s people, who are set apart by faith in me.’ 19 “And so, King Agrippa, I obeyed that vision from heaven. 20 I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must repent of their sins and turn to God—and prove they have changed by the good things they do. 21 Some Jews arrested me in the Temple for preaching this, and they tried to kill me. 22 But God has protected me right up to this present time so I can testify to everyone, from the least to the greatest. I teach nothing except what the prophets and Moses said would happen— 23 that the Messiah would suffer and be the first to rise from the dead, and in this way announce God’s light to Jews and Gentiles alike.” 24 Suddenly, Festus shouted, “Paul, you are insane. Too much study has made you crazy!” 25 But Paul replied, “I am not insane, Most Excellent Festus. What I am saying is the sober truth. 26 And King Agrippa knows about these things. I speak boldly, for I am sure these events are all familiar to him, for they were not done in a corner! 27 King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you do—” 28 Agrippa interrupted him. “Do you think you can persuade me to become a Christian so quickly?” 29 Paul replied, “Whether quickly or not, I pray to God that both you and everyone here in this audience might become the same as I am, except for these chains.”
Paul had enormous credibility because of the life he lived. He weighed his words carefully because leaders influence people with their words. When Paul stood before King Agrippa and was asked to defend himself, he was able to do that because of credibility of his life.
Paul was willing for his life to be on display.
Paul Modeled a life fully surrendered to the Lord
He encouraged everyone to follow his example.
He sacrificed for the sake of others.
He gave himself fully to the work of the Lord.
