Introduction to Colossians
Written by the Apostle Paul from Prison in Rome.
There are three other prison epistles.
They are Philippians, Philemon, and Ephesians.
The date of the writing is AD 60-62.

The letter was a response to heresy called Gnosticism.
What is Gnosticism?
Gnosis - Greek word means “knowledge”.
If you recieved the knowledge before you died your spirit would escape the body and go to heaven.
Jesus
The Creator of the world was evil.
Belief that all flesh is evil and separate from the spiritual world.
Jesus came to give us this knowledge.
He was Spirit only, not flesh.
What you do in the flesh has no consequence to the spiritual.

Bondage through Deceptive Philosophies.

Freedom from Bondage

3. means you are raised to new life.
4. means our punishment is taken away.
5. means power and authority over us, has been disarmed.
