Hungry? Why Wait?

***BULLETIN INSERT***
Justification. The act of God in bringing sinners into a new covenant relationship with himself through the forgiveness of sins, once and for all.
1 Corinthians 1:28-30
1 Corinthians 1:28–30 NIV
God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
Phil. 3:8-9
Philippians 3:8–9 NIV
What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.
THE PROCESS OF JUSTIFICATION:
Once we admit to the Lord our sin, ask for forgiveness and place our trust in Christ, we become justified before God.
In the OT, priests would lay hands on the lamb to be sacrificed as a symbol of the transference of the sin of the people or individual onto God.
Acts 13:39
Acts 13:39 NIV
Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
In the NT, Jesus took our sins upon Himself. (The transfer that took place with Christ and our sins… R.C. SPROUL’S CONCEPT)
Man, sin.
Christ, died.
At Christ’s death he took on our sin, transferred it to Him.
This made man able to enter God’s presence and become holy and righteous.
Jesus transferred His righteousness to us in this process. This is why we are declared righteous and holy.
WE OFTEN SEEM SO FAR FROM RIGHTEOUS OR HOLY, RIGHT?
That is why there is the process of sanctification. We are not perfect, only Jesus was...
Sanctification. A progressive change in the character of the person that has been justified. Simply put- “set apart to be holy”.
a. Saved from sin the moment we seek the Lord for forgiveness and trust Him. 1 Corinthians 6:11
1 Corinthians 6:11 NIV
And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
b. We are being saved daily as we ask for forgiveness from our sin.
Colossians 3:8–10 NIV
But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
c. One day we will be forever free from sin in God’s presence.
Revelation 21:4 NIV
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Glorification. Glorification is the completion, the consummation, the perfection, the full realization of salvation.
2 Corinthians 3:18 NIV
And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Standing before God when He takes us home to Him. (Rom. 5:6-11)
The perfection of sanctification and completion on ones inner character, person and self. (Ephes. 5:27)
Reigning with Christ. (2 Tim. 2:12)
We receive a new and perfect body. (2 Cor. 5)
God’s recreation of all things. (Rev. 21:1)

Have you ever really hunger or thirsted for something?
STORY OF MY TRUCK
STORY OF OUR LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP WITH ALISHA
God created us with a hunger & thirst for His righteousness. It’s something that could never be satisfied by anything on this earth. Only he can satisfy this longing that we have inside of us.
READ PSALM 42
THEY WILL BE FILLED
READ John 6:35-40
Jesus fills us with all we need from the Father in this world.
We make it so difficult.
We often think of righteousness as something we can manufacture.
a. Can we see through our own false righteousness?
1. As long as we hold on to anything that is in us as a result of self-satisfaction, or anything we have ever done or accomplished
2. If we are prone to defend ourselves from these things
b. We want the blessings of righteousness without actually being righteous as God calls us to be righteous.
NOW THAT WE KNOW ALL ABOUT RIGHTEOUSNESS THIS MORNING (AND WE COULD SPEND MANY SERMONS ON THIS TOPIC), LET’S LOOK AT SOME PRACTICAL WAYS TO SEEK GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS. (SEE BULLETIN)
