This morning. We're going to continue in our consideration of Jesus Messiah and we're going to consider this morning that he is the Lord of all. one of the things that I have noticed in my time as a Christian is that

especially culturally and even in cultural Christianity. We people tend to keep Jesus in a safe place for them. In other words, it's easier to see Jesus as the baby in the manger or as the Savior on the cross and it is to see him as the one seated at the right hand of the father who rules over all nations right now. And one of the challenges that we have is to see ourselves come under at actually come under the lordship and the rule of Jesus Christ. So what we're going to do this morning is kind of take a sweeping biblical view of this idea of Jesus the Lord of all and in doing that I want to read from Silent Night. We just sang it just a few moments ago, but just a just a portion of it silent night. Holy night Son of God Love's pure light radiant beams from thy holy face with the dawn of Redeeming Grace and you see it there Jesus Lord at Viber and what what this song is doing is recognizing Theological and biblical reality that when the baby was in the manger. He was at the same time controlling all the events and activities that were taking place on the face of the Earth at the time. Amen, Jesus Lord or King at the birth. Let's pray together and we will seek to acknowledge Him as our King this morning. Father in heaven, we thank you Lord for the revelation of yourself through Jesus Christ. Oh Lord, there is no other way. No other truth. No other light life besides him and Lord. We acknowledge that Lord and we want to come under that and we want to be participate to participants in that this morning. We pray amen at the first thing we'll start in Genesis. We've been somewhat starting in Genesis every week. But in the beginning God was the Lord he was The unrivalled Sovereign God created in a state of absolute perfection, and I just want you to notice in Genesis 1 in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth the Earth was without form and void and. this was over the face of the deep and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters and God said

Let there be light. And at the command that God gave for there to be like what is the scripture say happened? And there was light we see there that God is raining in the cosmos in the created order in absolutely unrivalled sovereignty when he speaks a command when he speaks a word of imperative the cosmis response. He creates EX nihilo in Latin from nothing or out of nothing. He commands the light to be and the light. What was it became we also see this unrivaled this lordship of God in Genesis 1 verses 26 and 27. Then God said let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the Earth and over the every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. So God created man in his own image in the image of God. He created him male and female he created them what we see there. Is that as God sought to Fashion a Viceroy. agent a a ruler of the earth to rule Underneath Him He fashioned man and woman in His image, and it was so

God was the Lord if you remember that end up in the account of creation God created she created she creates and he looks upon all the secret that he created. Then he says what it is good. Say one thing that man be alone and then he rectifying that situation quickly with the creation of a woman but in the beginning God was the Lord but in the garden That was supposed to be the the the place of God's presence the place of God's dwelling the place of the worship of God Adam and Eve were commanded to make a be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth. This was the establishment of God's Reign. They were supposed to teach their progeny the next Generations about obedience to the Lord and they were to Betsy the vegetation and the Awesomeness of the garden expand on the rest of the globe, but we see in Genesis 3 verse 1 that there's an intrusion into the garden.

Now the serpent. Was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.

and he said to the woman Did God. actually say So in the garden, the Lord was rejected. Did God actually saying you shall not eat of any tree in the garden? And then he responds with some truth and some additional things that she had added to the word of God and verse 5 of chapter 3 says this speaking for God knows that when you eat of it the tree that the fruit of the tree your eyes will be opened and you will be like God knowing Good and Evil. So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food. And that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise. She took the fruit and ate and she also gave some to her husband who was where? with her and he ate we see there that there's an opposition there's a rebellion. First of all in Satan to God questioning God's word and then attacking Eve with deception and attacking God's word and Eve and Adam both.

Responded in Rebellion against God not one of the things that snaky we we we hear that the the serpent was more crafty but notice it says that the the the the tree was good for food. It was a delight to the eyes and it was desired to make one wise. That's what's so dangerous about the opposition. That is to God's lordship. Is that It's Tricky. But look at what the fruit is the result then the eyes of both were opened and they knew they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together and made them selves loincloth.

And I heard the sound of God the Lord God Walking In The Garden in the cool of the day and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God. among the Trees of the garden

and since that moment mankind has been hiding running away from the presence of God God is calling for Fellowship God is calling for relationship. God is calling for submission to his lordship in man is running and hiding Isaiah 53. A condemnation all we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to his on way. The way that seems right to a man, but that's what leads to death. The third thing that I want you to notice is that in the establishment of the nation of Israel. There is a promise there is a a promise of the coming of the Lord choke. There's a rejection of God in Genesis. And then that there still a promise of a king that's going to come that's going to basically redeem man from his situation and rule over man in lordship Deuteronomy 17 foretells the coming of a king when you verse 14 when you come to the land that the Lord God your lord your God is giving you and you possess it and dwelling it then I would say and then say I will set a king over me. Like all the nations that are around you you may indeed said a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose from one of your from among your brother's you shall sit as king over you you may not put a foreigner who is not your brother only. He must not acquire horses from south or caused the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire how many horses since the Lord has said to you. You should never return that way again and he shall not require many wives and he continues on he says he when he sits on the throne of his kingdom he shall write for himself in a book a copy of the law approved by the little bit of Caprice and it shall be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life that he may learn to fear the lord by his keeping of all the words of the laws in the statutes and doing them that his heart may not be lifted above his brothers and that he may not turn aside. This commandment either to the right hand or to the left that his his that he may continue long and his kingdom he and his children and an Israel show the night. Establishes the nation of Israel and he is supposed to be the king in the Monarch, but he foretells that the nation of Israel is going to want a king like the other kings of the earth and he gives a standard for what that's going to be in 1st Samuel 8 4 and 5 Piers. The the Fulfillment of what God says is going to happen and then all the all the Elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel A trauma and said to him the whole you are old and your son's do not walk in your ways now a point for us a king to judge us like all the nations. It's so interesting how God even uses the rebellion of the nation of Israel. They wanted to be like the other nations and then he's still going to send them a king that they don't deserve and really what happens with the establishment of the monarchy starting with saw all the way through to the last king of the nation of Israel. Is there's there's a monarchy but there's failure. None of the King's Walk perfectly in the ways of the Lord the best known as far as being a a man after God's Own Heart is David and we know the failures of David. So you have continuing on and 2nd Samuel there's a promise 2nd Samuel 7:18 8 through 17 speaks of it. It's what we called the davidic Covenant God makes a covenant agreement a contract. So to speak with David and says look David one of your descendants one that's going to come from your line is going to sit on the throne your throne forever. Let me read just a little bit about it more over. I'm catching it in the middle moreover the Lord declares to you that the Lord will make you a house. So he's going to establish a House of David when your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your father's I will raise up your Offspring after you who shall come from your body and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name. But I will establish the Throne of his kingdom forever. I will be to him a father and he shall be to me a son. Now. There's a sense in a shadow type that's fulfilled in Solomon Solomon built a temple for the Lord but really that's projecting forward to the Lord Jesus Christ who is going to build God a spiritual house, which is his people the church listen to the language of government and rule in Isaiah 9 6 and 7. This is a Christmas verse if there ever was one right for unto us a child is born To us a son is given. And the government shall be upon his shoulder the rule the rule the kingdom the Dominion shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called. Do you know it wonderful counselor, Mighty God Everlasting father Prince of Peace of the increase of his government and other species there shall be no end and then there's the repetition of the davidic Covenant isn't there and on the throne of David and over his kingdom to establish it up hold it with Justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forever more And then if you ever wonder if God is going to establish his King. He says this does zeal. Of the Lord of hosts will do this.

And then one more from the Old Testament Psalm to it's a a Messianic Psalm a song that talks about the ruler the Lord. Why do the nation's rage in the people's plot in vain the kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and his anointed saying let us burst their bonds apart in Castaway the record for Muskie who sits in the heavens. Laughs The Lord holds them in derision. Then he shall speak to them in his wrath and terrified them in his Fury saying as for me I have set my king on Zion my Holy Hill I will tell of the decree. and then we get the we get the vision of who the king is. Who's the king?

The Lord said to me you are my son today. I have begotten you.

Ask of me and I will make the nation's your heritage it if you fast-forward, I just have to fast forward. What is the picture in Revelation the picture in Revelation and 7 and chapter 9 is what the nation so every people of a group of people made up of all the nations comes tribes and people singing to the lamb worthy worthy. Well, that's a fulfillment of Psalm to ask of me and I will give the nation's your heritage. And the ends of the Earth your possession you shall break them with a rod of iron Dash them in pieces like a Potter's vessel. Now, they're 40 Kings be wise be warned a rumors of the earth serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the son lest he be angry and you perish in the way for his wrath is quickly kindled blessed are all who take refuge in him. What song to is saying is that the Rebellion that took place in the garden the Rebellion that took place in in this this Kingdom even in the nation of Israel and all the other nations is going to be crushed eventually. It's going to be crushed by the son of his love and the reality here. He says kiss the son and we tend to think of that in a way that is Western or we go up and we kiss him on the face and that's not the language here to kiss. The sun is the kiss of submission. It's the kiss his hand or to kiss his feet saying you are the true king that the scripture say that Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of lords.

The next point is the in the Incarnation the Lord came the Incarnation the word Incarnation literally means in fleshment. And this is what we understand. As we saying earlier that Jesus is the Eternal Son of God. He is the Eternal ruler one with the father. He says of himself. I am the father are one.

He holds the world together by the word of his power.

but in the person of Messiah Which we could say Christ. Remember Jesus Christ price is not Jesus's last name. It's his title. He is the anointed one the king the Lord. And in the Incarnation the Lord came listen to Luke. in the six month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to the city of Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin but road to a man whose name was Joseph of the house of

Are you out there? The House of David the davidic Covenant and the virgin's name was Mary and he came to her and said greetings over favored one. The Lord is with you. But she was greatly troubled and saying at the saying and try to discern what short of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her to not be afraid Mary for you have found favor with God and behold you will conceive in your womb and bear a son and you shall call his name Jesus.

He will be. Great and will be called the son of the most high and the Lord God will give to him the Throne of his father David and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom. There will be no end. Well Lane Mary's like wait a second

How will this be since I am a virgin in the angel answered the holy spirit will come upon you and the power of the most high will overshadow you there for the child to be born will be called. Holy the Son of God and behold your relative Elizabeth isn't in her old age has conceived and this is she is in her six-month with her who is called Barron for nothing will be impossible with God and Mary said behold. I am the servant of the Lord let it be to me according to your word and the angel departed from her. continuing on in Luke Chapter 2 verses 8 through 11 in the same region there was Shepherds out in the field keeping watch over their flock by night and an angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord Shone around them and they were filled with great fear. Angel said to them fear not for behold. I bring you what good news are Glad Tidings of great joy, that will be for all the people.

For unto you is Born This Day in the city of David a savior, who is Christ

the lord show in the Incarnation is the coming of the Lord all the failed Kings of the nation of Israel that were Mere Men.

The shadowy shadowy representations pointing to the need for a king. That is not a mere man. A king that is going to be the god me.

King Jesus the Lord is revealed.

He's revealed first of all. We're staying in the Book of Luke here. the Lord over demons

verse 31 237 to chapter 4 and he went down to capernium the city a city of Galilee and he was teaching them on the Sabbath and they were astonished at his teaching or his word possessed Authority.

The idea of authority is power.

Why do you reckon that Jesus's teaching possessed Authority? Because he was the Incarnate God.

And in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon and he cried out with a loud voice. Haha. What have you done? What have you to do with us Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us and look at the recognition here. I know who you are the Holy One of God. The demon here recognize just what the lordship of Jesus.

But Jesus rebuked him saying be silent and come out of him and when the demon had thrown him down in The Miz, he came out of him having done him no harm and they were all amazed and said one another. What is this word for with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits and they come out. And reports about him went out into every place. in the surrounding reach

We have an enemy in Satan. Do we not he he prowls like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

It says he is the the harasser of the people he is the accuser of the brethren.

But Jesus is Lord. over him the second thing we see in Luke chapter 4 38 through 41 is he's the Lord over disease. He's the Lord's are over disease death and sickness.

when Isaiah 53 says that by his stripes we are healed there is a glint there's a glimpse there's a glimpse of that when Jesus instantaneously heal someone of a disease because his salvation is ultimately going to bring full bottle e r s duration to all of his people a man

Annie rose and left the synagogue and entered Simon's house. Now Simon's mother-in-law was Ill with a high fever and they appealed to him on her behalf. And he stood over her and rebuked the fever and it left her and immediately she Rose and begin to serve them. When the sun was setting all those who had had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to him and laid his he laid his hands on every one of them and healed them and demons also came out of many crying you are the Son of God, but he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Christ. Is the Lord over disease and sickness and death and thirdly? He's the Lord over devotion. He's the Lord over devotion. It says in in chapter 6 of verse 1. I mean skews me chapter 6 verse 1 on a Saturday Sabbath while he was going through the grain field his disciples plucked and ate some heads of grain rubbing them in their hands. But the some of the Pharisee said, why are you doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath and Jesus answered them? Have you not read what David did when he was hungry? He and those who are with him how we entered the house of God and took and ate the bread of the presence which is not his loss not lawful for any but the priests to eat and also gave it to those with him and he said to them the Lord are the son of man is the lord of the Sabbath what we need to understand just a little bit. I don't have time to go into all of it, but the Pharisees Had taken the command to to remember the Sabbath day. And in order to protect it, they added a whole list of customs and activities and non activities things you couldn't do and things you could do and it's surrounded the whole Sabbath. It really convoluted the Simplicity of what God really require. God wanted the nation of Israel to trust him. He was going to provide for them and six days with what it took the rest of the Nations to take and 7. He wanted the nation of Israel to be distinct in the fact that they wouldn't work on the seventh day of the week. That would be a day set aside for rest. None of the other nations did that it was work work work. It was all labor.

He wanted them to be different. He wanted them to trust that the Pharisees convoluted that they made it more about what you didn't do and what you did do more than it was about resting and trusting in the Lord. It says that they laid burdens on the people too heavy to Bear well in this confrontation, this is all that Jesus is saying I'm the lord of the Sabbath. You don't get to say what my people get to do on my day. That's what he say. He saying I am Yahweh in the flash. It's my day. I get to determine what Devotion to me is. And what a reminder for us not to create some type of Christianity. That is a Munroe mixture of some other philosophy of religion or some other way to God. We must remember that Jesus is the Lord of devotion and he determines how he is to be worship and honor and praise and then fourth way we see that he is the Lord as he's the Lord over Deliverance.

One of on one of those days Luke Chapter 517 226 on one of those days as he was teaching Pharisees and teachers of the law or sitting there who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem and the power of the Lord was with him to heal. And behold some man, we're bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus but finding no way to bring him in because of the crowd they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles in the midst into the mid before Jesus. We all need friends like that. Don't we That don't give up on the first attempt to get us to Jesus and will do what it takes to get us before him. And when he saw their face, he said man your sins are forgiven. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question saying, who is this who speaks blasphemies who can forgive sins, but God Alone. This is the argument. Jesus says your sins are forgiven. The Pharisees are saying only God can forgive sins like this.

When Jesus perceive their thoughts he answer them. Why do you question in your hearts, which is easier to say your sins are forgiven or to rise and walk but that you may know that the son of man has Authority on Earth to forgive sins. He said to the man who was paralyzed I say to you rise pick up your bed and go home and immediately Heroes up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home glorifying God amazement sees them all and they glorify God and were filled with all saying we have seen extraordinary things today. And Jesus is saying simply here.

It's not any more difficult for me to forgive sins than it is to give life to a paralyzed parallax. It's all easy for me because I am. the Lord

Let me say before we go to practical application.

Do you realize what Jesus is saying?

If I say your sins are forgiven. therefore gif

and that that's an encouragement for every believer here.

If he says your sins are forgiven, they're forgiven. But it's also an encouragement for any unbeliever hear. How easy is it for the Lord Jesus to forgive sins? easy really easy So I encourage you to trust him this morning cast your Hope on him now to some practical application. Number one Jesus as Lord the Lord Jesus rules among his people. Here's what I'm trying to say their God. Jesus is the Lord Jesus. He's the Lord over everyone right now, even those that are in Rebellion, but the way that he is the Lord over his people among his people is that we submit to him

Do you realize that any submission that you give to Christ is a result of his ruling in your heart. He he he has worked in your heart. That's what he saying in John 3. He says unless a man be born again. He cannot see the kingdom of God. Until this is an observation. If you are a child of God, Jesus is your lord and he rules Among Us.

And this is a twin truth. Jesus is no savior. When he is not Lord. So what we need to understand is that we can't segment God's Christ out. We can't segment Jesus out. It is kind of like the danger that the that the United Pentecostals and some of the charismatic Neo charismatic movement makes about the Trinity. Well, some of them don't believe in the Trinity which is why they make the mistake but that they believe that you can have the salvation of the father in The Salvation of the Sun, but you don't have the you don't get the spirit until sometime later in your life. Well that's dividing up the trinity. It's taking the the one essence of the Eternal God and saying you can get part two persons, but not three. We we do the same thing in a way related to Jesus being the Savior and the Lord. Everybody wants Jesus as Savior. But only the elect only those who submit to Christ want him as Lord only the True Believers wanting his Lord and so we need to understand there has to be a submission to him as king and that submission. Let me just remind you is an ongoing reality our hearts still have rebellion in them. Don't they? Raise your hand if there's no rebellion in your heart. Raise your hand if there is okay, you got it. So that means there needs to be an ongoing resubmission, press submission to the Lord each day and each moment in your life and a good test about whether you really know. The Lord is is he is he growing as your king and practice?

If you're still sitting on the throne and you're still wearing the crown. Jesus is not your king. And that also means he's not your savior. So you have to submit to him as Savior and King. 1/3 beautiful point of application

Is that the Lord Jesus served his people?

the Lord Jesus served his people do you realize

The service that Jesus has given to us rendered to us being the humble. slave of God Philippians 2 talks about

we get a picture of that with at the the Last Supper whenever he takes off his regular Garmin he puts on the towel of service and he washes the feet of his disciples, but we have a king. That doesn't mind getting his hands dirty with us. Amen, amen a king that don't mind getting in the middle of your messing us. He's already bore the messiest mess that you and I have. So that means he doesn't mind getting into the mix of our day and serving Us. In fact, I think one of the mistakes that we make in our culture is that we tend to think more about what we do for God then what God has to do for us. You see until you've been served by Christ in Salvation and him is king and you humble yourself like Peter had to to let him wash his feet until that has happened in your life. You're not worthy to serve.

But it's a beautiful reality that the Lord Jesus served his people. He's a humble King.

and then

the last thing I think I I stole this but he put it publicly so I don't guess I really stole it but John Piper. Adjust a grate reminder. Jesus is more than the Lord.

Think about it. He's more than a king or the king. He's a savior. He's a a comforter. He's a friend of sinners. He's all those things.

But the important thing to remember even though Jesus is the Friend of Sinners. He's also the king of he is no less than he is more than that, but he is no less and so my encouragement to you, hopefully from the word of God is that you will remember Jesus Lord at thy birth. Jesus Lord right now Jesus Lord into all eternity Jesus king of kings and Lord of lords humbly submit to him today. Let's pray together.

father

are most necessary request this morning, is that you would

engender within us work within us the power of submission.

lord, it's easy to be led to a life of self-rule and self-government and self-absorption and neglect that you R hockey

chilord, I asked Lord that in these moments Lord that we would all consider.

How worthy you are?

How were the you are as king? How necessary it is for us to kiss the Sun. In submission less he be angry.

And we thank you Lord that those who trust in you. Will not be put to shame. In Jesus name we pray amen.
