This morning.
We're going to continue in our consideration of Jesus Messiah and we're going to consider this morning that he is the Lord of all.
one of the things that I have noticed in my time as a Christian is that
especially culturally and even in cultural Christianity.
We people tend to keep Jesus in a safe place for them.
In other words, it's easier to see Jesus as the baby in the manger or as the Savior on the cross and it is to see him as the one seated at the right hand of the father who rules over all nations right now.
And one of the challenges that we have is to see ourselves come under at actually come under the lordship and the rule of Jesus Christ.
So what we're going to do this morning is kind of take a sweeping biblical view of this idea of Jesus the Lord of all and in doing that I want to read from Silent Night.
We just sang it just a few moments ago, but just a just a portion of it silent night.
Holy night Son of God Love's pure light radiant beams from thy holy face with the dawn of Redeeming Grace and you see it there Jesus Lord at Viber and what what this song is doing is recognizing Theological and biblical reality that when the baby was in the manger.
He was at the same time controlling all the events and activities that were taking place on the face of the Earth at the time.
Amen, Jesus Lord or King at the birth.
Let's pray together and we will seek to acknowledge Him as our King this morning.
Father in heaven, we thank you Lord for the revelation of yourself through Jesus Christ.
Oh Lord, there is no other way.
No other truth.
No other light life besides him and Lord.
We acknowledge that Lord and we want to come under that and we want to be participate to participants in that this morning.
We pray amen at the first thing we'll start in Genesis.
We've been somewhat starting in Genesis every week.
But in the beginning God was the Lord he was The unrivalled Sovereign God created in a state of absolute perfection, and I just want you to notice in Genesis 1 in the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth the Earth was without form and void and.
this was over the face of the deep and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters and God said
Let there be light.
And at the command that God gave for there to be like what is the scripture say happened?
And there was light we see there that God is raining in the cosmos in the created order in absolutely unrivalled sovereignty when he speaks a command when he speaks a word of imperative the cosmis response.
He creates EX nihilo in Latin from nothing or out of nothing.
He commands the light to be and the light.
What was it became we also see this unrivaled this lordship of God in Genesis 1 verses 26 and 27.
Then God said let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the Earth and over the every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
So God created man in his own image in the image of God.
He created him male and female he created them what we see there.
Is that as God sought to Fashion a Viceroy.
agent a a ruler of the earth to rule Underneath Him He fashioned man and woman in His image, and it was so
God was the Lord if you remember that end up in the account of creation God created she created she creates and he looks upon all the secret that he created.
Then he says what it is good.
Say one thing that man be alone and then he rectifying that situation quickly with the creation of a woman but in the beginning God was the Lord but in the garden That was supposed to be the the the place of God's presence the place of God's dwelling the place of the worship of God Adam and Eve were commanded to make a be fruitful and multiply and fill the Earth.
This was the establishment of God's Reign.
They were supposed to teach their progeny the next Generations about obedience to the Lord and they were to Betsy the vegetation and the Awesomeness of the garden expand on the rest of the globe, but we see in Genesis 3 verse 1 that there's an intrusion into the garden.
Now the serpent.
Was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
and he said to the woman Did God.
actually say So in the garden, the Lord was rejected.
Did God actually saying you shall not eat of any tree in the garden?
And then he responds with some truth and some additional things that she had added to the word of God and verse 5 of chapter 3 says this speaking for God knows that when you eat of it the tree that the fruit of the tree your eyes will be opened and you will be like God knowing Good and Evil.
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food.
And that it was a delight to the eyes and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise.
She took the fruit and ate and she also gave some to her husband who was where? with her and he ate we see there that there's an opposition there's a rebellion.
First of all in Satan to God questioning God's word and then attacking Eve with deception and attacking God's word and Eve and Adam both.
Responded in Rebellion against God not one of the things that snaky we we we hear that the the serpent was more crafty but notice it says that the the the the tree was good for food.
It was a delight to the eyes and it was desired to make one wise.
That's what's so dangerous about the opposition.
That is to God's lordship.
Is that It's Tricky.
But look at what the fruit is the result then the eyes of both were opened and they knew they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together and made them selves loincloth.
And I heard the sound of God the Lord God Walking In The Garden in the cool of the day and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God.
among the Trees of the garden
and since that moment mankind has been hiding running away from the presence of God God is calling for Fellowship God is calling for relationship.
God is calling for submission to his lordship in man is running and hiding Isaiah 53.
A condemnation all we like sheep have gone astray.
We have turned everyone to his on way.
The way that seems right to a man, but that's what leads to death.
The third thing that I want you to notice is that in the establishment of the nation of Israel.
There is a promise there is a a promise of the coming of the Lord choke.
There's a rejection of God in Genesis.
And then that there still a promise of a king that's going to come that's going to basically redeem man from his situation and rule over man in lordship Deuteronomy 17 foretells the coming of a king when you verse 14 when you come to the land that the Lord God your lord your God is giving you and you possess it and dwelling it then I would say and then say I will set a king over me.
Like all the nations that are around you you may indeed said a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose from one of your from among your brother's you shall sit as king over you you may not put a foreigner who is not your brother only.
He must not acquire horses from south or caused the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire how many horses since the Lord has said to you.
You should never return that way again and he shall not require many wives and he continues on he says he when he sits on the throne of his kingdom he shall write for himself in a book a copy of the law approved by the little bit of Caprice and it shall be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life that he may learn to fear the lord by his keeping of all the words of the laws in the statutes and doing them that his heart may not be lifted above his brothers and that he may not turn aside.
This commandment either to the right hand or to the left that his his that he may continue long and his kingdom he and his children and an Israel show the night.
Establishes the nation of Israel and he is supposed to be the king in the Monarch, but he foretells that the nation of Israel is going to want a king like the other kings of the earth and he gives a standard for what that's going to be in 1st Samuel 8 4 and 5 Piers.
The the Fulfillment of what God says is going to happen and then all the all the Elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel A trauma and said to him the whole you are old and your son's do not walk in your ways now a point for us a king to judge us like all the nations.
It's so interesting how God even uses the rebellion of the nation of Israel.
They wanted to be like the other nations and then he's still going to send them a king that they don't deserve and really what happens with the establishment of the monarchy starting with saw all the way through to the last king of the nation of Israel.
Is there's there's a monarchy but there's failure.
None of the King's Walk perfectly in the ways of the Lord the best known as far as being a a man after God's Own Heart is David and we know the failures of David.
So you have continuing on and 2nd Samuel there's a promise 2nd Samuel 7:18 8 through 17 speaks of it.
It's what we called the davidic Covenant God makes a covenant agreement a contract.
So to speak with David and says look David one of your descendants one that's going to come from your line is going to sit on the throne your throne forever.
Let me read just a little bit about it more over.
I'm catching it in the middle moreover the Lord declares to you that the Lord will make you a house.
So he's going to establish a House of David when your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your father's I will raise up your Offspring after you who shall come from your body and I will establish his kingdom.
He shall build a house for my name.
But I will establish the Throne of his kingdom forever.
I will be to him a father and he shall be to me a son.
Now.
There's a sense in a shadow type that's fulfilled in Solomon Solomon built a temple for the Lord but really that's projecting forward to the Lord Jesus Christ who is going to build God a spiritual house, which is his people the church listen to the language of government and rule in Isaiah 9 6 and 7.
This is a Christmas verse if there ever was one right for unto us a child is born To us a son is given.
And the government shall be upon his shoulder the rule the rule the kingdom the Dominion shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called.
Do you know it wonderful counselor, Mighty God Everlasting father Prince of Peace of the increase of his government and other species there shall be no end and then there's the repetition of the davidic Covenant isn't there and on the throne of David and over his kingdom to establish it up hold it with Justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forever more And then if you ever wonder if God is going to establish his King.
He says this does zeal.
Of the Lord of hosts will do this.
And then one more from the Old Testament Psalm to it's a a Messianic Psalm a song that talks about the ruler the Lord.
Why do the nation's rage in the people's plot in vain the kings of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and his anointed saying let us burst their bonds apart in Castaway the record for Muskie who sits in the heavens.
Laughs The Lord holds them in derision.
Then he shall speak to them in his wrath and terrified them in his Fury saying as for me I have set my king on Zion my Holy Hill I will tell of the decree.
and then we get the we get the vision of who the king is.
Who's the king?
The Lord said to me you are my son today.
I have begotten you.
Ask of me and I will make the nation's your heritage it if you fast-forward, I just have to fast forward.
