19 “Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; 20 and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, 21 whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things about which God spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets from ancient time. 22 “Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed to everything He says to you. 23 ‘And it will be that every soul that does not heed that prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’ 24 “And likewise, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and his successors onward, also announced these days. 25 “It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ 26 “For you first, God raised up His Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways.”

I want to look at this text the context of revival..
Peter and John are walking along and meet a man sitting at the gate called beautiful begging
He looks at them and Peter response silver and gold I have not.. but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!”
After a season of prayer these men where filled with the Holy Spirit and fire and it was affecting others.

Due to the reports of successful revivals by the late Gypsy Smith, he was asked to explain the best method to start a revival. He answered, “Lock yourself in a private room. Take a piece of chalk and mark a circle on the floor, get down on your knees inside the circle and pray, “God start a revival inside this circle.” When this prayer is answered, revival will be on.
one man said to me, “revival can be defined as a person falling in love with Jesus all over again.”
Re- Revival. again! Re- Refreshing.

It’s the awaken of a heart.. it results in joy and life and it affects all the the revived person comes in contact with.
if you want to be REfreshed, you must learn to REpent.

I love the song that’s says “Lord send a revival and let it begin in me.”
Often time our minds skip to think about a revival of thousands, when God delights in a single refreshed or revived soul.
In our text we find peter preaching and he says,
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away
I’ve always said that,
“revival and that’s true revival must begin with repentance” PD
i’ve research the history of the great awakings across the world and i have found that all of them begin with the people returning to the place of prayer.
The 1st Great Awakening.
Historically, The 1st Great Awakening begin with Nikolas Count Ludwig Von Zinzendorf, a German. It was traced to the Moravian community called “Herrnhut” (the Lord’s watch), they prayed, repentanced and and saw reconciliation in 1727. This movement that began a 24 hour-a-day prayer meeting, which lasted the next 100 years.
one of my favorite story is of Evan Roberts in the early 1900s. He had been praying for revival and an outpouring of the Holy Spirit for 11 years. Through a vision he received, Roberts believed that God was going to win 100,000 souls.
Therefore repent and turn.. this is the central message of the New Testiment if not the bible
During these meeting Many were prostrated with conviction, others cried for mercy and they pleaded with the Lord to stay His hand. Soon the revival spread to other places in South Wales.
Teams of young people assisted preachers like Roberts, and The revival then took hold in North Wales. Within six months 100,000 had come to Christ!
“Therefore repent and turn.” this is the central message of the New Testament if not the bible. Maybe the church is not experiencing the refreshing because this message is absent.

Leonard Revenhill says, its because “our pulpit are filled with puppets rather than prophets.”
We have substituted truth for lies and preaching that does not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have (our) ears tickled,(we have) accumulate teachers in accordance to their own desires

speaking of the return of Christ.. why do we need to be revived before His return..

the intent of the devil is break us down.. to kill steal and destroy.. to discourage believers.
That why Isaiah says about Jesus in

With so many things going on in the earth.. ISIS and Ebola (whatever happen to Ebola?)
We live in a unique time in human history where we get to watch the bible unfold on FOX and CNN
Where scripture after scripture in confirmed. Again and again..
In the mist of when Jesus is telling them of things to come and to watch for deception and that nations will rise up against nation.

False prophets and teachers will arise (I wonder when this will happen)

And this is speaking of their love for God.
But in this.. Jesus says

Now if we are going to run the race to win to the end.. we need to be revived and reenergized..
We have to have seal..
Jesus’ Disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me."
Remember, jesus said My father’s house is a house of Prayer.
So where can we get Zeal?? Im glad you asked me.. The place of Prayer…
Place of prayer is our heavenly fuel station.. it is the place where we get re-energized, challenged, convicted, rebuked, skanked, hugged, loved, and refocused.
the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong
