The road you take determines where you end up.
What ever I think… go the other way.
What ever seems right??? probably not.
Driving there can be several roads that will eventually get us to the right place.
Spiritually, it is not that way.

All through the sermon on the mount, Jesus has been showing two kinds of ways.
In the very beginning… I want to show you a different kind of righteousness than that of the scribes and teachers of the law.
Two kinds of ways… You have heard it said… don’t murder, but I say… two ways.
Ch 6 - Some people practice their righteousness to be seen by others… they pray, they fast, they do religious things so people will see them…
Ch 7 Two kinds of people… one judgmental and condemning… one seeing lots of specks, but not seeing the plank in their own eyes…

Choice to make.

Enter through the narrow gate… Because there is another gate… gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction.
Two kinds of people.
Those that have entered the narrow gate, and those that have not.
Many enter through it.

Hindu.
Muslim…
THEN THERE IS US.
Those of us that are in church and Christians.
Many - them, FEW - US.
Jesus is speaking to religious people.

Talk about two kinds of trees… Many will say to me Lord, Lord…
These are people that think they are on the right road…People that think they are Christians… but are on the road that leads to destruction.
Live in a time where the gospel is being watered down.
He drew a circle that shut me out—
Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout.

THIS IS SO EVIDENT OF THE CULTURE WE LIVE IN… Tolerance.
Celebration of things the Bible clearly calls sin.
We live in a time where many churches are widening the circle… live how ever you want… As long as you believe in Jesus and have repeated a prayer at some point in your life you are ok.
The Christian life is entered through the narrow gate.
The Narrow Gate leads to a narrow way.
Any other Gospel is no gospel at all!
We enter the narrow gate through repentance and surrender.

It is easy to say on the broad road… do nothing…
The narrow road of following Christ is costly… requires repentance of sin… it is lonely and unpopular… (crowds going a different direction - may feel like the minoritiy.
way is narrow… word is a word that means oppress or afflict.
Suffer hardship… this life is not easy… Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness… 5:10
