My message this morning is entitled:
In Whom Do You Believe?
In Whom Do You Believe?
My text is found in:
1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
Introduction:
Introduction:
Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.
But only faith towards God will do this.
The text says to move away from dead works and have faith towards God.
We must move away from the things that will hinder us.
We must move away from the things that are sinful.
We must move away from the things that are unfruitful.
And turn our faith towards God.
Faith Gr. Pistis means a conviction of truth, or belief Gr. Pisteuo place confidence in.
Faith is the substance Gr. Hupostasis having a foundation.
Faith then is having a conviction of truth that we place confidence in.
Which is our foundation on which we stand.
so where is our faith directed towards?
As we look to the Word of God we will answer the question:
In Whom Do You Believe?
I. Faith Towards Man.
I. Faith Towards Man.
Faith towards self. (Not enough)
I can handle it. (cave man)
I don’t need anyone else.
Faith towards others. (Not enough)
We can handle it.
We begin to lean on others for everything.
Counselors, friends, psychiatrist….

8 It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord Than to put confidence in princes.
Maybe your Faith is in Religion

The Pharisees had faith in Religion
(they said) We are the sons of Abraham.
Jesus said:
9 and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
2. but we are the ruling class.
a. we are entitled
b. We are the hierarchy of the caste system
3. People today have faith in religion.
a. I’m Church of God, or Pentecostal, or Baptist
b. Faith toward a denomination isn’t enough!

Heb 11.6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Faith towards the Alpha and Omega, creator of all things.
Where man and religion fail, God will not.
Examples found in Hebrews 11.
26 For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.
26 In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.
Conclusion:
Conclusion:
I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is Able to keep that which I have committed, unto Him against that day.
Do you know in whom you have believed?
Is it God? He will not fail you!
Is it man? Then you are heading for a fall!
37 Indeed you will go forth from him With your hands on your head; For the Lord has rejected your trusted allies, And you will not prosper by them.
Put you faith toward God and He will deliver you.

Lord I believe that Jesus is the son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I ask forgiveness of my sins, and I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
