So who listens to the the voice of God’s Holy Spirit?
Jesus teaches about the good shepherd and points out that He is the good shepherd.
But look there are some that hear his voice and others that don’t.
Vs. 1-2: Ill: Enter through the front door vs. trying to enter through the back locked sliding glass door.
Vs. 2: Is the shepherd of the sheep.
Vs. 3: The sheep listen to his voice.
He calls them out by name.
(He knows them and takes care of them.
They know he takes care of them and does not lead them astray)
Vs. 4: They follow because they know his voice.
Some voices are recognizable and some are not.

Vs. 6: The Pharisees did not understand what he was telling them.
Vs. 24: Tell us… are you the Messiah… tell us plainly.
Vs. 25: I did tell you.

I and the Father are one.
All hear but not all listen.
Why because they are not God’s.
There are times as a believer that I don’t sense or hear God’s voice.
Where is the voice of God?
I think the loudness of our lives can sometimes drown out God’s voice to us.

When you don’t hear God’s voice, get away and get quite.
Vs. 11-12: Wind, Earthquake, and Fire are all signs that traditionally accompanied God’s Presence.
vs. 12: A gentle whisper.
- When someone whispers you have to turn down the volume of other things, and draw close to hear.
2. The more we listen to God’s voice the more we will hear Him.
If you are not willing to listen to everything God has to say, you eventually won’t hear anything He has to say.
One of the figures that is used for the Holy Spirit is fire.
How do you quench a fire?
You dampen it down and don’t let it burn.
To quench the Spirit means that you refuse to do the will of God; that is, you are not listening to the Holy Spirit.
You refuse to let the Holy Spirit be your Guide to lead you.
You and I quench the Holy Spirit when we take matters into our own hands.
We want to hear the comforting voice but not the convicting voice.
This is the same teaching that Paul gave to the Ephesian believers: “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption” (Eph.
4:30).
You cannot grieve a thing; you grieve a Person.
The Holy Spirit is a Person, and He is grieved by sin in our lives.
Also, He is quenched when we step out of the will of God.
3. When we don’t hear God’s voice, follow Him anyways.
4. When we don’t hear God’s voice, do the next right thing.

When we don’t hear God’s voice, he may speak through others.
Have you ever heard a Pastor teach and you felt like it was just for you.
How could have He have known.
He didn’t, God’s Spirit did and used the sermon to speak to you.

When you don’t hear God’s voice, search the bible.
The more we listen and act on what the Spirit is telling us the easier it gets to hear him.
7. When you don’t hear God’s voice, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you
When was the last time you asked the Holy Spirit to speak to you?
Are you actively inviting God to speak to you.
